sold car, now guy wants money back!!
sold a car last weekend, car was listed on ebay for 1850 but guy offerd me 1650, so fort i would take it as quick sale, he came down after a 2hour drive looked at it, underbonnet inside and out, took him for a spin in it he was well impressed with it, and decided to have it, 2 and half days later get txt off him saying engine managment lights were on, and that the car leaked oil, tho ive had car 4-5 months never seen no patch of oil on floor or engine lights on, so he said he wanted £100 back, so i offerd £50 out of good nature.. which he took happily, week later get another txt saying hes had car looked at by specialist an that the gearbox is on its way? the car has always been spot on with me no probs apart from flat battery which i told him about, anyway now hes wants he money back and threatening with trading standards, where do i stand with this cheers

you're being far too soft; let him get trading standards involved; they will do sweet FA
cant believe you even gave him £50 back
stop shitting yourself, its a 2nd hand car which he CHOOSE to buy after inspecting it at an agreed price
end of story mate

just a blagger and you should NEVER have goven him £50. Tell him to piss off.
He inspected the car, was happy to buy it anything that happens after that is down to him unless the car was stolen or something.
I once had a guy call me a few days after i bought a car off him to say that the cash I gave him (that we BOTH counted) was £200 down and could I do the right thing and send him £200 lol!!
I told him I would, do the right thing that is and send him fook all.

Down to him if he failed to check the vehicle thoroughly or failed to get a qualified person to check before making the purchase.
How do you know he hasnt kicked the arse out of it for a week and due to his driving has made the car the alledged way it is.
Tell you what, if you take the car back let me know.. Ill come to you next time you sell a car.. will work out cheaper than hiring one.

I think you should go to your local dealers and buy him a new car on finance out of principle.
Well you did give him £50 for no reason!
Seriously tho,
I would just ignore him, dont answer his calls or reply to any texts any more

tell him, quite short and sweetly....... sold as seen, you were happy at the time of purchease and agreed to buy the car which is now in his name.......... his problem not yours!

Cheeky twat, he came and saw it, test rove it and einspected it and was happy. "Sold as Seen" is not the big get out that it's made out to be as the goods still must be "fit for purpose".
I would tell him to poke it and get trading standards involved, my guess would be that his raped the fuck out of it and done it mischief.

As others have said, once it's gone its gone. He had the opportunity to inspect it to his satisfaction. It's not your responsibility any more unless you are a dealer and it had a warranty on it. He literally could have been ragging it to death from the moment he drove it away.

Giving him £50 was the wrong thing to do.. He finds you a soft touch so wants more.. Just ignore him!
Fort = retard, likewise FINK. Why do people spell like spastics? Really gets me
likewise it does chop too!

You don't have to give him anything, as others have already said, sold as seen. I'm suprised you even gave him £50 back, since you did that it, cynical people would say that implies you are guilty of something.
Beat me to it... annoying as fuck!

Cant believe you gave him £50, as soon as you did this he must have thought you had something to hide, why did you do this????
I would tell him only once, to do what he likes sold as seen, then dingy him there after
