abandoned saph cosworth find advice needed
hi everyone,
cut a long story short, i was leaving a job the other day and spotted a saphire cosworth on someones drive. its very mouldy and looking sorry for its self but looks to be quite straight.
i didnt have time to investigate but im going to call round this weekend and try to speak to the owner with a view to buy.
im going to assume there are faults with the car as i cant understand why someone would neglect it in such a way.
has anyone had any experience of knocking on strangers doors trying to buy cars ??? i would love to hear your experiences and advice,
cheers Ryan

i've done it many times mate, if you dont ask you dont get!
only advice i'd give is be polite (goes a long way) and to be honest if its sitting languishing there it sounds like he has lost interest and you may get lucky.
On another note my mate found a Cossie and chapped the door, but turns out the owner had died and his wife was keeping it as a memory.
Keep us updated!

Me and a mate went to a house as there was a motorbike outside , we just said , is the bike going begging , he said yes named a price paid it and off we went to get trailer and took it home .
Just be polite and ask , nothing to lose by asking , everything to gain if it comes off .

i am trying to get my hands on 2- xr2s a mk1 and 2 that have been left in a garden near my mums house.first thing i did was post a note with my mobile number on and to say i was intrested in the 2 cars but got no reply.so went round a couple of times but no one ever in.and by chance when i was driving up to my mums the women was at the front door waving someone good bye lol.so i pulled up and just asked did she want to sell them as ive noticed that they hadnt moved in a few years.so she said she wanted them moving but they werent hers but her ex brother in laws that had left them there but she said she will find out wot hes doing with them and let me know either way.end of day u have nothing to lose so might as well knock on door and find out they will only say yes or no lol

i use to do this all the time knocking on doors for cars, just knock and ask what they were planning to do with the car, do say anything about buying it as some people will give it away if its in the way i.e sons car left there or old mans left to rot, act as if its just a rusty old 1.8 ghia and see what they say

He didnt want to sell but when his mum saw the note she nagged him like crazy to get rid. picked it up the sat after. worth shot if you dont wanna risk getting chinned lol

oh well, i went round on saturday. knocked on the door and asked the old bird nicely if i could speak to the owner of the saph. turns out its owned by her son, who then came out for a chat. i asked what was happening with the car and would it be possible to buy it(offering a good home etc etc).
the lad said he wasnt interested in selling it and intends getting it sorted for this summer.
i then said ok can i leave my number in case you change your mind and he wasnt interested ! GUTTED.
its a real shame as the car has great potential and has been sat there for years, i cant see the lad getting it sorted any time soon.
im tempted to post a letter through the door with my number etc anyway just in case. as the old dear looked like she wanted rid it lol.

Doesnt hurt 2 try again thou, mate of mine did the same thing to an old guy who had a 3door which was pretty clean for its age with 50k odd on the clock and him and his wife were the only ppl on the log book and used it as a run about as and when, he had replaced alot of parts and had a boot full of spares with loads of history etc, the spare has never been used and has the original D40 tyre too which we know the concourse boys pay good money for!!!
Made me sick when he told me how much he managed 2 get it for.........................5k!!!!!!! the bloke knew it was worth more but was happy to sell it for that as it was going to a good home, wanker
