Default Mapping complete 12/3/10 - 400+BHP @ 26.8psi!!!!!!

popped up to see the nova after work managed to catch dave hard at work just before he called it a day!

nova is currently 315bhp @ 12-13psi equates to around 265-270@ wheels

hopefully dave will finish up tomorrow and hopefully get boost up to 25ish

well had a phone call today to say the nova was boosting to 25psi and was making in excess of 350bhp ATW

dave's rollers only read up to 350 ATW so the rest of the graph flat lines, but we think its around 400-420 @ flywheel (360-380 @ wheels) as we have reached the limit of the t34 0.63 hybrid turbo and they are known to flow a max 390-420bhp

in a car that weighs sub 800kg will be one fast little car

i am collecting tomorrow with one tired operator and tyres that are almost bald due to the wheels spinning, but im happy its stayed together and everything has worked well

gary

Good results although I very much doubt its over 400 on that turbo, especially at that boost.

Either way plenty !

the turbo makes around 400 on cosworths +/- 10-20 bhp so i see no reason why it wont make close to if not over 400 on the nova! the turbo is maxed out it holds 25psi from low down till high 5k revs then the boost tails off

regardless to what you set the boost control solenoid too

25psi low down is at 40% duty cycle
higher up we put 100% duty cycle in and it made no difference

so my thoughts are that the turbo has reached its limit and cannot supplied the amount of air required higher up to meet 25psi

but either it will be plenty fast in a sub 800kg car

Shame you chose that turbo really as it is ultimatly holding you back a lot. And I find them quite laggy on LET's!

Still be a lot of fun though

Agreed, 3071 or a 3076 would have been a better choice really

Is this Dave Walker who is doing the mapping ?

If so, dont forget to get 3 maps done and only pay Ł250 for the lot **

I expect it pulls like a missile. But if you could experiment with other turbos in the future I bet you could get more drivability out of the car.

there was another yellow turbo around 400bhp mark (my mate gareth owns welsh coast customs , powerflow dealer) but its now been broken for bits and sold back last year!

the nova is now safely home in the garage to say i am over the moon with the mapping is an understatement

it idles perfectly from cold, on 750cc injectors and 3 bar fuel pressure

havent driven it properly yet only off and on to the trailor and down the short run up the street and into the garage!

i have a graph but it only reads 278bhp @ the wheels at 4250rpm it flat lines to 6500 before dropping off

torque flat lines also at 330 ft @ the wheels at 4400rom

the rate its increasing the mapper worked out that its around 350-360 @ wheels

which equates to 400-410 at flywheel

its holding 26.8psi

oil change tomorrow i think, a final nut and bolt check fit bumper and get it mot'd early next week

big up to dave young at mech motorsport he has spent in excess of 20 hours on it, i am very happy finally

ebngine did 500 miles on the rollers over the last week with out a single issue

yes the rollers were maxed out, but the rate it was increasing at 3750-4000-4250 was 26bhp per 250 rpm

his rollers are fine usually for what he uses them for mostly n/a engine which never see 270-300 ATW on very few occasions he gets some powerful and it just flat lines!

by the looks of the graph and having to estimate as it flat lines at 4250 @ 278 and drops below 278 at 6500rpm

350 at wheels calculated on the graph using the current rate of acceleration is around 5200ish rpm
