Hi,
When accelerating hard in first I find it hard to get into second quickly
Have any other escort cosworth owners got any tips on how to get it in second quickly, is it best to push it to the side and pull down at the same time or just pull down?
Thanks for any help,
Dan

Think theyre all the same mate - the synchro's in the MT75's struggle with the change from first to second at high revs
I just change more slowly and deliberately if you know what I mean...
Neil.

Thanks for the replies guys
I'm not sure if it is a problem with my box which is making it worse but I can never seem to get it in gear quickly and by the time its in the turbo has to re-spin up, how much am I looking at for a quickshift kit? Another prob I have is when accelerating hard and putting it in 3rd there is often a crunch noise, could these be linked?
Cheers

sounds like the syncro rings are worn, try speaking to bernie
, other thing to try is double clutching, ,ie as you come off the throttle dip the clutch as you put the lever from 1st to neutral, then quickly release and dip the clutch again as you engage second. Feels dead slow at first, but with practice its dead smooth and quick , and makes horrible boxes change well
do you have probs coming down as well, i.e 4th to 3rd etc etc? if you do try to match the revs to the lower gear, using heel & toe as you down shift, much smoother and much less wear on the box
