apart from the Focus RS would you buy if you had to, to mod? i.e. Lower, change the alloys, a little bit more power etc etc?

Either Mountune the Fezzie Zetec S or (and im putting myself out on a limb here!) a Focus CC! I reckon a CC would look really good, slammed low and on some nice large alloys! Whatcha think?

They did well enough to get the venerable old boat anchor past all the emmissions laws to stay in production till 96, dont take the piss and say you wanted late 70's technology to stay in production longer, it would just have made ford look like a dinosaur
Whats wrong with the new breed of super tunable n/a duratecs or the easily tuned 5 cylinder lumps?
My vote for a tuneup would be either a zetec-s fiesta or duratec turbo a mondeo

The Fiesta ST is crying out to be made right.
It really could do with a lift in the quality of the interior materials and general overall build quality.

only a fool would put a zetec against a yb and as for old hat havent u seen the new lease of life the yb has been given over the last few years with cars now doing 600bhp + and if mitsubisi can make a 4 cyl turbo engine meet new regs then why carnt ford? cosworth was the biggest thing ford had mate thats still hard too beat today! And as for the 5cylinder thats a volvo engine mate
Ford didnt 'have' cosworth, ford have never owned cosworth whilst producing a cosworth badged/engined car
The fact they didnt carry on was purely down to emmissions regs
The Mitsi engines are designed from the ground up with emmissions in mind mate, not from a 70's van block in case you didnt notice?
Ford own volvo mate, hence its a ford engine mate
same as all the VAG engines are used across brands mate
Nobody mentioned putting a zetec against a yb mate......zetec are old hat now as well
Carry on being stuck in the past...cosworth is as amazing engine, but its not the future, which is what this thread is about

all im saying is in my opinion ford dont make any good cars now and i never said ford owned cosworth did i but they were best when they had it on the back of there car! And im not stuck in the past if i wasent into cossies and mercs id have an evo or a new m3 or a new skyline not anything new from ford! And ford may own volvo but its still a volvo engine lol. And as for it being a thred about modern car i know that which is why i said i dont like any of them but thats just me if u do then thats fair play! And the evo may be built to modern standards but ford and cosworth could have built a modern yb too then we would still have the cosworth and if they had made it 4x4 as well then we could compete with the evo and the subaru

Have to be in the No club as well, they don't do nothing in the performance market like they used to, what can compete with the M3 for example? Just imagine the potential if they developed the Mondeo with this as the target as they done before.
IMO there needs to be a hot RWD Mondeo ideally a Cosworth.
It always makes me laugh the YB/Pinto block, this was the period engine at the time which Cosworth evolved something that none of us could do, it's the same as saying the Duratec RS is a jumped up Zetec with a turbo because it's exactly the same principle.
In fact the YB was very advanced when released with features like a 16V head and "Sophisticated" engine management which were unheard of virtually, so it's not old technology at all rather just the norm now.
The only advantage I can with a Duratec over a YB apart from the emissions nonsense is they are lighter than the YB.

None of them to be honest, I had a Focus ST225 and I didn't rate it, it was a great car to cruise in but it was boring and didn't handle. I wouldn't buy anything Ford is offering now, the only Ford I'd consider from recent years is the mark 1 Focus RS but that doesn't answer your question.

If it was possible and I had the money, just drop the new 5 cyl turbo engine from the Focus RS or ST into my ST24, and get the whole car tidied up to suit, with new suspension etc.
But fuck yeah, I'd have the Shelby above hands down.

That's can only be because you've not driven any. It's a pretty daft thing to say that Ford don't make any good cars now, when the current line up of Fiesta Mondeo and Focus are considered to be pretty much the top of their classes. The new Fiesta's production lines are flat out such is the demand, the Focus RS is simply awesome, and the new Mondeos are fabulously capable cars.
Sorry mate, but you ARE very stuck in the past!
