Excellent find, always a bit of a sore point when going over.

Not massively expensive at 99 quid for 8 laps either TBH

The liability is pretty limited though, it only covers damage to the track, it doesnt cover other cars you may hit and be liable for, or track closure time.

But its better than nothing.

although personally I am still of the opinion that ANY uk insurance policy covers you at the ring for ALL 3rd party costs anyway, under the 1988 road traffic act!

Specifically see section 145(3) and section 148 of the Road Traffic Act.

Its peace of mind though, you no yourself how much bills can come too if the track gets damaged or worse still closed

Yes, although this insurance covers only material damage to the ring and doesnt cover closure charges, which was 1500 euros an hour at the time of my accident there.

Its woefully inadequete on one hand but on the other, for 99 quid for 8 laps (so only adding a few hundred quid on a trip for me personally) it isnt a lot of money to pay out for at least partial peace of mind.

Given its limits though, ie it will only pay out upto 10K euro anyway, I wouldnt personally use it, but it might interest some others.

aparently this is a letter sent by an insurance company with reference to both the fully comp and 3rd party elements of a claim at the ring:

Well thats quite interesting, although i feel quite a lot of companys would dispute a claim on the ring due to the nature and high risk element of it.
If your really going out there and pushing your car then £99 is peace of mind, i mean how much is just to remove and refit a single peice of armco. Got to be over £100.

The smallest claim ive ever heard of, for just 1 or 2 planks of armco, no uprights, no track cleaning and no track closure, was Ians (reyland focus), at 600 quid.

That would be covered by this policy potentially, but thats not the sort of claim that scares me, I dont mind a claim of a few K against me, I mind the thought of a couple of hundred K of claim against me!
