Only if you consider 2.4/2.5 bar ridiculous. We have had 2.8 bar on the road. So no not ridiculous boost at all

Can never understand people who wont run high boost. No point in having a great big air pump bolted to your engine and not using it. Utter gayness

is that not to preserve engine life

my car is around 520bhp at 30 psi, dont see the point in upping the boost just lead to problems i would of thought

how many miles have you done running that boost rich?

Well i run my t34 wide open, so as much boost as it could make everywhere in the rev range. Turbo lasted a good few k miles.

The GT30 i have done maybe 3k miles at the boost. I expect the turbo to show signs of wear before my engine does. I do now wish i had long studded my engine but never mind. It does what it does

Certainly not going to turn the boost down to preserve engine life. Boost generally doesnt cause problems, its too much igntion and lack of fuel which does. Although i am no expert so am prepared to be corrected

Rich,

Slighty off topic, are you still undecided whether to keep the saff or go for an Evo mate??

erm............

Keeping the cossie for now. Got a baby on the way due in June. Cant be arsed with the hassle of breaking a car and trying to shift the bits. If someone offered me the right money for the whole car so they could drive it or break themselves then i would probably let it go.

But for now i will keep it and wait for the weather to improve and enjoy it

No the 3071 is the limit. The point of my exercise was to see how far i could go with the standard head. We have far exceeded my estimations and Mark's. The next turbo up is the 3076. Mark thinks i will suffer from surge. At the moment i do not have to cap or control the boost lower in the rev range. If someone gave me a 3076 (internal gate) to try i would glady give it a try and see what the results are and then hand it back but i am not forking out £1k just to find out lol

Same box as Rod if mine lets go or i may see what Bara offer. This is budget spec after all

No need for apologies. I like hearing all the ins and outs of Cosworth tuning.

Yes Dave made it back safe and sound. Thanks again, nice seeing you again.

Yes 2 types, one looks like a T34 and the other abit like a T4, i had the Universal Turbo T38 which resemble a T34 where-as the Turbo Technic looks like a T4...Phewwwww

I personally now wouldn,t choose a T38, the GT3071 is making nice power on cars, Evos aswell and the spool is similar to a T34 so i believe from Karl/Sheady etc...
Pete

Took mine out today for the first time after fitting the T38

All i can say is your spec must not of suited the turbo as mine makes positive boost by 2250rpm and is making 1bar at 3250rpm, thats only on the get me to Tony chip he sent as well.

my turbo tech t38 was awsome on my saff.. wish i never sold it.. could never work out why everyone slated them but i guess all the t38s were tarred with the same brush.. went far better than similar spec t34 cars id driven ..

Steve,

My spec as you call it... i think you mean JIM,S spec WASN,T meant for a T38 mate, it was built for a T4 which Jim had bought brand new but for some reason decided on PX-ing it for a new T38......

i stand corrected but i think there round the 1200-1400 mark supplied

sure prices and on rainbums website but you could to direct to cr turbos

wenny had on in the old spec mk three, the yb revved like a bike engine and honestly ive never been sooo scared in my life

if i have to save up ill get a roller t4 , unless a suitable gt series turbo comes up at a good price
