Default difference between 4x4 and 2wd saffs

this may seem a bit dim to you guys but whats the difference between 2wd and the 4x4s engine wise.
im just about to get a 4x4 saff and its got the ar42 turbo on, ive got one of them on my erst (which ill soon be trading in ), which i belive to be standed.
im just a little confused on the differences are the 2 interchangable inlet and outlet wise, any help would be great.

the turbos on ERST, 2wd cossies and 4x4 cossies are all T3's, they are interchangable, but all have differant exhaust housings, erst being the smallest, 4x4 being the largest

is that what you where asking?

so could i put a tubular manifold off a 2wd and use it on a 4x4, the only difference is the flange type off the exsaust housing.
so would just be a case of modifiying the down pipe.

theres quite a bit of difference mate, you can use the 2wd manifold on a 4wd,its got loads of different mods on it.mines got a t3 on at the mo running nearlly 300bhp,im gona get a t34,green,3 bar map sensor and 3.1 accuator, should be good for a few more bhp i rekon..the possibilitys are endless, used to go skeggy a lot im from sheffield originaly..im over next week and trying to get a few ford owners to meet up at the dome in doncaster on saturday 6th march at 1pm if your up for it mate??

yes you can, but the 2wd head has a bit to support the turbo cast into it (as the turbo sticks out further on a 2wd) the 4x4 doesn't so you will also need a turbo hanger/support/damper whatever you want to call it, lol

saying that unless you are going for mega power there is not much point swapping exhaust manifolds as the standard ones are pretty good.

also the flange on 2wd and 4x4's are the same

Ł350 for a turbo and exhaust manifold, I would imagine there is a very good reason why it is so cheap

so a t34 would bolt on a 4x4 manifold and again change down pipe flange.

that would explain that then as its on k plate, write heres the other thing on my mind with it, its not running a amal valve (solernoid to control boost), accuator is plumbed stright to turbo housing. is the norm for cossys.

the 4x4 is only 2k s0 wasent expecting miricles that why all the qs.
may have to get some pics up on a new thread.

on a T3 OR T34 you are fine to run without a dump valve, but you do need some kind of boost control, does it have a bleed valve?

no bleed valve. cosworth acuator forge and thats piped striaght to turbo housing.
there seems to be a erst amal valve bolted to the top of intercooler not piped to anything nor any wires.
1st 2nd 3rd seems ok 4th at 100mph fuel cut, pops and bangs flames the lot. matey is claiming 330bhp. i had a standared sti classic impreza 280bhp, its not a patch on that. dont get me wrong its the tits and its a cossy.
will have to have another look and see if i can find the plug for that amal valve and pipe it in. the thing is if i start messing with it before i do the deal (my 90spec erst and 500notes) he might not wanna sell it and he got his car sorted for nothing. do i do the deal on a wimm.

sounds like a bit of a bodger, without any boost control, who knows what kind of damage could have been done, it needs the amal valve putting back on and the boost and fueling checked and setup. personaly i would steer clear of this one

seems like something has gone wrong and the guy has done this as hes a bit of a numpty. 4x4 all works engine sounds sweet heats up cools down, very good body work it doesent need a lot. if i have 2 throw a grand at it it will still only ow me 3200, which ant bad really. abs is faulty, a/c been disconected, esaust is sitting very low. just daft things,
acuator could be pre set to say 8psi and it would open at that pressure.
engine does sound nice.
