Mapping doo's and donts!!!!!
hi all i am going to renting the rollers down at mtech automotive next week sometime to get the nova running on the base map provided by martin b (mb automotive)
its a very good starting point engine fires up fine, runs, how ever it runs very rich on most sites and lean on others ( the map was for a std engine running vxr injectors) mine is far from standard and runs 750cc
i ve done the fueling around idle to get it some where near stoich (14.7) actually runs 14.5 ish but fluctuates, got an lc1 in the car and also hoooked up the reading to display on the mapping screen saves me looking at the screen and the gauge etc. i also have an audi s3 egt sensor also running and measuring it is postioned after the turbo.
currently on idle egts are around 250 so around 350ish in the collector of the manifold
its running emerald k3.
now my plan was and still is unless other wise advised i was going to get matt operator of the rollers) to hold the car at every load site and adjust the fueling to suit, as trying to get the car on the road to hold a site long enough is very hard. ignition will not be played with at this point its safe enough for now and power figures are not my priority just getting a good map to avoid bore washing the thing and to allow me to comfortably drive the thing around for a few days to run it in.
im planning just to do it up to around 4.4-5k and cap the revs at that so i can put a few miles on the engine before it gets final mapping by dave walker at emerad on april 8th?
any problems with the way im planning on doing it? if so any advice etc would be helpful
the reason for using the rollers are has no tax as yet, needs a new mot and only has one seat at present so unable to get a friend to drive while i sort it on the road!!!
