Default Banks - do they limit the amount of cash you can withdraw?

Hi folks

Quick question, Id of asked the bank but there shut till monday so I thought some of you lot might know! Anyway....

I wana take £4k out of my Barclays account in cash, I was wondering if there was a limit that banks would let you take out in cash per day, or if u had to especially request it? any ideas?

I wouldnt like to have 4k cash sitting around.

Wouldnt a cheque be a bit safer. And easier to carry. 4k in 50s is still 80 of them!

i had 3k by just walking in and asking for it. had photodriving license credit cards etc for ID and had to fill out a lenghty form cos they didnt know me in that branch.

but its generally best to prebook it. as different banks do different things
