Default Thinking about cheating....

No not on the missus! But on you guys!

Got three fords at the mo, always had fords escorts mondeos fiestas

But I'm sick of the shit reliabilty and other little issues they cause me daily.

Set on getting a new motor and think its going to be a VW Golf.

Germans seem to be able to build a longer lasting motor.

All 3 of my mondeo's have failed on me various times and my two fiestas and 2 escorts with head gaskets

Don't think I'll leave fords for ever but just cant be doing with them at the mo with the milage I do.

Looking to buy a petrol drinking monster for weekends tho in the coming months so might go for a fast ford again.

Getting a few more project cars this month anyway so will still be active

Either buy an old one, or a new one. The ones in the middle will give you more grief than any ford - guaranteed!

Never ever had a problem with a standard run of the mill fiestas, escorts or mondeos.

ive got a ex taxi audi a4 sitting on 274k, bought it for 300 with 6 months test done me the hole winter soo far only issue bein a split in a water pipe easy fix! also got a3 on 200k in the last year its needed a wiper motor and a flywheel, dualmass flywheels break up and rattle so converted it to single mass. both tdi's perfect runabouts if you clock major miles, heard alotta people moaning bout golfs dont know why tho cause half the parts are the same as the a3s

i got rid of my last of the mk1 p reg mondeo rs's 2 ltr si last year,it never missed a beat 100%,the only thing that ever failed was a bulb, the car never failed to start or get me comfortably where i wanted to go,it had never been welded and the engine was as good as new imo. i'd honestly rather smoke a good mk1 mondeo than them shit mk3's with the engine problems like diesel pumps that fail and dual mass shit.
never had a problem with a clutch on a mk1 or 2 mondeo or a diesel pump too.
they are good cars the 90's fords for reliability.

Missus has a mk4 golf GTI 1.8 she bought it on 80k its now sitting on 132k! and has never missed a beat apart from general maintenance (clutch and cambelt/servicing) car has been 100% spot on! and she does drive the car hard! and its also slightly tuned (chip, decat, and a panel filter) got to say i think VWs come across as great cars
