deal

"When it comes to flat screen TV reliability Hitachi is the worst LCD TV and Philips the worst plasma TV. Panasonic's 50" plasma is the best TV overall, according to an Annual Product Reliability Survey conducted by US organisation Consumer Reports."

"

Reliability

For ALL televisions I, personally, would stick with either Panasonic or Sony... maybe not the cheapest, but in all the reliability studies they come out tops.
You may be surprised to learn of some of the manufacturers of televisions who came out as below average, I know I was surprised at some of the brand names... Grundig, Sharp, LG, Hitachi, Bush, and Goodmans for instance."

I'd be interested in which one you go for Tiff as I am looking to upgrade shortly...

Ive had the Sony 40inch LCG for 4 years now (was Ł1600 when first out ) and its silver so doesnt match lol.

Cant fault Sony stuff but looking to go 42+... At 42 is is better to get Plasma or LCD? Generally I just have MTV on all the time ad the odd blast on the Playstation.

I'm concerned the 50 mayb a bit to big so will check recommneded viewing distances. Let us now which one you go for and if its any good..

Rubbish, an LED (which is actually and LCD with LED's behind it) is better for gaming etc but doesn't have the contrast of a plasma. If you watch films then plasma is better.

just get a 60 Tiff.

You will regret it if you don't. I bought mine few years back when 60's first came out and have never regretted it.

You will soon want a bigger one that a 50....

so just get that in first place. you are saving money in the long run!

We've just bought an 50" Plasma HD LG something form curry's for just over Ł650. Though th quality isn't great without HD, but a HD box fixes that

to get a good quailty picture on a "60 your going to have to spend around 2/3 times as much as you will on a "50 not really worth it imo unless you have plenty of ŁŁŁŁ to chuck about

you also need to make sure you have the room to be seated away from it otherwise your wasting your time

Great choice mate was just about to post up about LGs. Got a 42" Plasma in my bedroom 600hz doesn't run full HD but did my research and concluded it would be fine even on 1080i rather than 1080p. TV looks great even on freeview and I have a HDMI to DVI cable running from my PC graphics card to the TV and my graphics card is pretty decent. Gaming in UNREAL and even youtube when you switch to fullscreen and HD looks brilliant. Great choice. If I were to get a 50" it would be the bigger brother to my LG right now

I've got a 50" (Samsung) plasma, and sit about 9ft from it, and it's fine. Anything bigger tho - much as I'd love a 60" - would look stupid I think; a) would be too bog for the room, and b) I would be too close to it.

But I love my 50", no regrets buying it. Was a bit of an impluse buy, but got a cracking deal on it so what the hell! Pukka for films, the PC looks stunning through it (running full 1920x1080 resolution), and although I've got nothing HD to put through it, other than the occasional prog on BBC-HD on Freesat, I'm really happy with the PQ on the whole
