Saff Cossie "1.3 Popular" sleeper from last FF
Hey, I've just picked up the latest issue of FF and on page 156 there's a brief feature of a proper street sleeper Saff with a YB engine.
Apparently it was also featured in the last issue of FF but I haven't got an idea how to get hold of it over here in VW-land...
Is there any more detailed information about the car here on the forum?

it looks like a bog std saf, even to the point of the tail pipe on the backbox
you carnt see the recaros becuase he has seat covers on them
no signs of it being a cosworth at all looking at it
its a perfect sleeper if its not then what do you class as a sleeper?

not really its a sleeper wether it once looked like a cossie or not
he still has all the original parts taken off the car in storage as the article says it will be returned backone day, but the way it is it can be left anywhere just looking like a bog std sierra which no one looks twice at
its still a sleeper

Looks like he had to keep the sideskirts on, though. Fair play, I don't like the idea of drilled out rivets rusting away in my sills either.

Love the idea of that car, and it looks great. Really refreshingly different.
But I just wish he'd gone the extra mile and taken of the skirts and badged it as a real model of Sierra instead of pretending it was an Escort.... (1.3 Pop Sierra?!).

Controversial move to do it to a genuine Cosworth, but obviously a lot easier than Cossie-ing a base model!
and LOL @ any thick fucks saying it's not a sleeper! Have you got shit in your eyes???
As Ade says though, really needs badging as a model that the Sierra was actually produced as!

a cossy saff is a sleeper tbh. uv gotta be a big car buff to know that the old sierra next to u at the lights is a cosworth.
so one that looks even worse. deffinatly a sleeper.
thats the only thing that puts me off the saff cos, most people think ur driving round in an old sierra with a noisy backbox and alloys. which is a bad image.

Still don't see the appeal of a sleeper - I think you need to be proud of your car and not be making it look like a lesser model. If you're that ashamed of it, sell it to someone who would be proud of it, don't 'downgrade' it. It's no wonder people always ask me "Is it a real one?" Of course it's a bloody real one!

but my whole take on a sleeper is to take a standard car and make it something special. Royal nail springs to mind otherwise it just defeat's the object. Wennys mk3 is the ultimate of that theory. Taking a car of virtually zero performance and making it stupidly quick is in my eyes a sleeper. But getting a nice car and making it look like a shitter is pointless, and not really a true sleeper as its not had any upgrades only been downgraded.
