Default Minimal brown gunk in oil cap

Hi guys my g/f has a 57 plate 1.25 fiesta zetec, it has done 13000 miles and the other day i noticed there was a little brown gunk on the underside of the oil cap.
I cleaned it off, checked the dipstick which was fine drove it a few miles checked it again and hoped it had gone which it had.
Obviously it being a new car called ford so they could have a look at it, they had a look said that it is a common fault on these cars when used for short journeys.
However this does seem a bit odd, she does drive it short distances although it also has the odd motorway blast. car running fine, temperature is fine, no smoke, coolant clean so dont think its the head gasket.

Checked again today and its back only a very little amount. Is it just a little moisture or is there an underlining issue.
Any help would be much appreciated.

Do get that with short journeys as the engine doesn't get hot enough to burn out any condensation. Could be worth doing an oil change, then take it for a good run!

Yeah mine does it, I do about 6 miles to work each way, so it doesn't get really warm apart from when it goes out at the weekend. Do get a tiny bit of gunk forming on the oil cap, but I do regular oil changes and never had a problem.

When the weather warms up a bit I'll be cycling to work!
