Ive not read all the replies but i have been in both 996 TT and M5 and tbh i'd defo pic the M5... awesome awesome cars. Faster than 996, and you could leave it anywhere and and not worry about it as much as a porsche.
Any ive been in though dont average 18... my mates gets 15 with his misses driving and lower with him.

That sort of money would want it 2 be special rare on the road and piss over al the stuff mentioned . A noble m12 gto, noble m14 dodge viper. Tvr Masseratti of sum sort. Al the German stuff is 2 common prob coz it's the best but tho. That sort of money would want 2 show off a little.

it's your money james, so do as you like with it. personally i would rather put it into property and spend a little on bikes (that are faster than those barges anyway 
) and holidays. expensive cars are just a huge waste of money in my eyes, but if it's your passion then go for it.
you do the maths (get the calculator out if you have to), but i'm fairly sure that Ł30k is more than 20% of a Ł100k income

im sure you enjoyd driving the cossie , its just the reliability issues that make them a pita. Im sure a man in your position could make a fast car even faster without spending 30k.
is it really the best time to throw 30k at a car ?
p.s if i had to spend 30k i,d buy another range rover sport for the family , a trailer, a cossie powered mk2 escort for track days and playing and a gixer thou to kill myself on.

The one i was in the other day was avereging 18mpg it got a bit of a sore time but i dont think it will be any worse than a 996 turbo on chat. If you want a car for ring trips ect surley its either a 996 or M5. I cant have enough praise for the m5 out the packet they are total weapons with all the comfort you will ever need. Charlie shaw's dad has had 2 E60 m5's he has got a 360 as well a 07 plate i think with the f1 paddle shift charlie reckons the m5 was a good bit quicker
as for e60 m5,s little brother got an 07 a few months ago awesome car!!! but likes the petrol
my choice
1) 996 turbo
2) e60 m5
3) m3 csl
4)997 c2s ( might be pushing it but
)5)audi rs4 saloon (avant if you have a dog or go shooting,fishing)

what about the M6?????
M5 is a GREAT car no doubt... but its also a VERY boring looking 4 door saloon... ZZZZz....
M6 does all the same stuff and whilst no stunner... is at least a little more sexy to look at. Still ALOT more practical than a 996 as well.

I think you should buy a saff cossie mate! Get a nice clean one for about 8k, and then you wil have 22 grand left to do it up!! Go on you know it makes sense lol!!!!

C63 AMG is 460HP. Awesome bit of kit, I drove my friends and loved it.
E60 M5 Is quicker though. Brutal car. Id have one of those over a 996 Turbo myself.

Just read what i wrote there mate when i meant looking at it i meant literally looking at it, its in for some work i wish i was looking to buy one. First car ive seen done in wrap the outside the car is faultless & looks good not so nice when you see the burgandy inside on the bonnet tho
