Default Ebay/Paypal Claim Problem

I've recently sold a phone on ebay to some guy from bradford, the phone was working when I sold it, however he is claiming it doesn't work when recevied and there is no sign of postage damage. I even unlocked the phone 2 days before and checked I'd left no contacts etc on it prior to packing so I know for a fact it worked. I'd listed the phone as sold as seen and no refunds and only described it as good condition.

Anyhow he's rasied a dispute with paypal who have settled in his favour, saying the item wasn't as decribed (if I wanted to be picky I didn't even say it working in the listing!!). Anyhow is there any way I can overturn or complain as I'm totally hacked off with this as a) I know he is taking the p1ss and b) that paypal are saying it wasn't as listed when I'd stated no refunds and sold as seen??

I've not had any bother before in 70 transactions so new to disputes so cheers for any advice!

I had a similar dispute i sold an ecu that worked fine, the guy put in a dispute with paypal saying it wasnt as described which it was. Paypal gave him his money back (buyers protection guarantee) of 250 which then left me owing 250 to them.
They then told him to send the item back to me but he sent me back a box of rocks. after months of phone calls trips to the police station etc ebay finally realised he was freudster and had done something very similar in the past.
Had this not have been the case though i think i would have had to have paid the 250 and kept a box of rocks!
Good luck with it mate but its not likely too get resolved

Hope I dont get a box of rocks then!! Bit of a joke like, but guy seems to be a proper chancer. He had 0 feedback at the time and within an hour of saying it was broken had a score of 1 for another phone. Haven't had the phone back yet but can only think he'll return a different phone or will have deliberately damaged the one I sent if he decided he didn't want it. Defo going to take it into vodafone though to see if it's been tampered with or been swapped.

no chance of getting anything back; ebay/paypal ALWAYS favours the buyer

one of the reasons i dont use it anymore to sell anything

i bet he had a broken one so purchased your good one and will return the broken one.

say you have the imei number logged and will check the returned item and block if the correct one isnt returned.

yeah they have made themselves a amazing system where they make loads and scammers thrive, they just dont care. Sadly for me a large amount of my income comes from ebay, and there is no real alternative

If nothing else pay the guy a visit and ask for it back

Then pay him another visit later with petrol

Same happened to me a few years ago when i sold a xbox. Paypal refunded the guy 120 pound and put my account into minus. They just didnt want to no so I just ignored all there requests that i must pay money into my account.
They then sent some dodgy debt collecting company called nco after me. They tryed to get the money back by phoning me on a dailey basis sometimes 5-6 times a day and were saying that somebody would be coming around my house which of course never happened.
I kept telling them to take me court over it but nothing ever happened and my credit report was not affected let alone searched by them. They just used scare tactics and had no power to do anything. Ebay is a rip of these days. I was going to advertise something the other day until i realized they charge 10% on what you sell thats not including the charges from paypal which again is ebay owned.
