melted piston-do i really need a rebuild?

Default melted piston-do i really need a rebuild?

hi all,got a 397bhp sapphire,i melted piston number 4 ,so i rang up ggr for a rough estimate on the cost of repair,he told me it will need a full rebuild and will cost £5500,holy shit i thought!my mates gonna strip it down tomoz and see what damage has been done,and he says he will repair it for me,will it really need to be rebuilt?or just repaired?

any advice/comment

Its impossible to say Bill, it really is.
Until the engine is stripped no one has a clue what damage has been done by the loose metal that was flying around at the time of meltdown...

£5500 seems a tad expensive 2me,but then i dont really know much about engine rebuilds???

yeah gutted,only had the car a few months and not really used it much either,£5500/that'll make it an 11k motor then

The problems arise as when its in pieces you have to ask:

"Do i do XYZ whilst its apart?"

If you want a written and itemised quote for a fully built 400 capable YB, drop me an E-Mail, that will give you a worst case scenario.... lol

the car will be coming your way to get set up in the near future (motorsport developments)i'll drop you an e-mail stu(computers a bit tempremental at the minute though)the engines out now and will probably be getting stripped down this week sometime,luckily my mates gonna do all the work for me,so should keep costs down

ia could try chemocal metal to temp fix the hole


see if ya cracjed the block ya could have bought halfords block repair
