Default Focus TDCi's - any issues to look out for?

Hi all

Thinking about flogging the ST already. Love it to bits, but its just so thirsty! My mum and dad have moved away too so am doing a lot more miles now, so want something a bit more economical.

Looking at the same shape TDCi focus's. Do they have the same issues with the mondeo's regarding the dodgy injectors and egr valves?

Anything else I should be looking out for? For those that own/have owned one, roughly what mpg were you getting, and how far were you going on a tank?

Cheers

Rich

Afraid not, don't have the room here to keep another car, and that's just something else to tax/insure/mot!!

Thats a shame mate, but if needs must. i had a 06 plate Focus Titanium X TDCI as a courtesy car for three weeks, i was genuinely surprised, really nice car, drove well, was a good spec, and was a nippy little thing.

Ok cheers, yeah I have had a brief drive in one at work, thought it went alright!

What modern car doesn't suffer with DMF problems though eh! Really would have thought they'd have scrapped that idea by now!

That is on the consideration list actually!! Had a mk3 mondeo before although only the 2.0 petrol, was a really nice car to drive

the 1.8 tdci is pretty good car i loved my old one, had a few issues with the engine shut oiff solinoid which basically pumps air into cylinders to make it smooth when switching off, this can be told by like a quietish duck quacking sound from top rear of the engine, easy fix though.

personally i would go for a 2.0 tdci though, get it remapped for app 165 -170 bhp

i had a v6 mondeo zetec s then a mondeo st220 then two new focus st,s and like you got fed up with the fuel bill
i now have a focus titanium 2.0 tdci and it is not a bad car but i do find it a little boring at times
had mine just over a year and it has hardly depreciated unlike the focus st,s and touch wood no problems with it
as for mpg it will be double what you get in the st around town and on a run
just going to ride through these rough times and then maybe get something silly again
