What happened to this Prototype?

I know they were killed off but not sure why? and i know they had a few of them built including a silver one.

Remember seeing a similar picture of this years ago, well before the RS Focus mk1 in FastFord, good question what happened to them

Considering how much usual concepts are altered to suit the sales market i think these are pretty damn close to the production versions.
