Yes mate, I was meant to be on the rollers yesterday as well with my nova but as the block split I couldnt be, and Rob was meant to be there with his Astra Turbo, but Nortech fucked him around yet again with getting parts to him in time, so we stuck his astra convertable daily driver on the rollers (141bhp) and then the plan was to map the clio, but I ended up having to do a load of overtime for toyota and didnt get chance to finish wiring it in, so I just a-framed it up anywa and Rob spent some time with Matt wiring in the clio for an Mtech V4 ecu while me and Mike were playing with the van on the rollers as there wasnt really enough for us all to do with the van alone and we were all there for the day anyway so figured we may as well do something useful, lol.
Clio is nearly there now, so big thanks to Rob and Matt for that, once ive got it running on the V4 i'll be fitting some throttle bodies as well in the near future, had them sat on the shelf for ages but not had time.
The way we're doing it is with an adaptor loom that plugs into the existing loom, so for now I can simply unplug it and put it back on the original ECU so that I dont end up in a situation where ive got no trackday car while doing the ecu swap.

Exhaust is pretty long, so needs to be a fairly big diameter, although 3" is probably overkill by half an inch still of course, couldnt really go much smaller though without it being restrictive

great news about the connect, shit news about the clio though, thought you'd only recently craned another engine into the bay?

No mate, I was involved in development of some of the supporting IT systems for the recall operation.
Yeah its got a williams engine, nothing wrong with it, just havent had chance to fit the new management yet, did you misread the post?

Nova will hopefully be out for bedford, I'm going to just piece an engine together from some old bits ive got lieing around for now, and put my proper engine to one side to either sell for parts (ive got about 4-5K in secondhand value of parts still for it that are in perfect condition) or rebuild.
Current line of thought is to maybe go Saab with the next engine for it, just looking into that at the moment.

Firstly, a MASSIVE thanks to chip! Who not only ognasied the day but then spent most of it instructing me how to map. Then when his clio wasn't ready, giving me his time on the dyno and instructing me more.
Sadly over the weekend i have decided now is the time to sell the van, Not becuase i want to but becuase i would like to take my business to the next level and for that i need to fine roughtly 30k from somewhere. I will be gutted when it does go as this really is the best fun i've had in a project ever!
Im really Impressed with the result, The van is so much smother and comes onto boost much "cleaner" and now goes like a rocket! Some people faces are priceless!!!!
heres the graph,

I think it could do with a bigger turbo, This ones being strangled for everything its got at this sort of boost

15K+ Super Poster!!
It's a bit more than 1000rpm in reality. The exhaust manfolds on these are horrednous for back pressure, that would be my first mod if packaging allows. They run 10's as std to keep the EGT's down...

Nice to see comments from people that are properly technical, you are both totally correct with all your points there lads
Christian,
The turbo will come on song a little sooner than that graph shows, but the fast ramp rate we were working with essentially makes it more like its in a lower gear, so the turbo doesnt spool quite as well like that as it would in real life, but its good for when mapping further up to stop the engine being under load on successive roads quite as hard.
Rick,
Yes we run mikes Van rich too, low 11s and high 10s, for the same reason, the standard manifold is rubbish.
Could get away with a bit leaner in a lighter vehicle im sure, but Mike works the van hard and quite often has himself, another fat bloke like me, a couple of engines and various tools in the back, so it can see 2000kg plus quite reguarly, which means its under a lot more load so heat buildup is even more of an issue than it otherwise would be. the aerodynamics of a high top connect with a lighterbar arent exactly great either, so again loads more strain than it would see in a fiesta or normal focus.
