Thanks for the warm welcome pals.
Well it runs well, but has some rust on the arches, boot, a pillars and sills and a few knocks from the suspension but will be mint by summer time.
So glad I went for the v6, best looking ford ever made!
Going to take pictures tomorrow, lights up!!

Don't take the comments to heart. I think you may be stretching it a bit with the comment above regarding best looking Ford but if you are happy with it and it's a car you've always wanted then good on yer for going out & getting one.
Try posting your original post on the UK probe owners forum www.ukpoc.co.uk/forum/viewforum.php?f=72 and i'm sure you'll get a more positive response as they are all a bunch of like minded saddos (only joking). Good luck with the car.

Seriously though, the probe is a good looking car, if not as sporty as the capri (though it's defo not THE best looking ford ever, that goes to the mk1 cortina)

Great thread. Funny those Saff & Escort owners saying a Probe looks shite . Saff looks like a Taxi & the Escort like a 1.3 with a tea tray on the back. Its not the best looking Ford thats goes to a 3door but its certainly more pleasing on the eye than the othe Cossies. WELCOME.

The only Probe to go for is the Mk1. 
2.2 12V 4-pot turbo. It had the engine of a small japanese lorry and was basically bullet proof. At standard boost it produces 150 bhp @ 4300 rpm... Power delivery like a diesel With a bit of tweaking you can get over 200 bhp out of a standard engine and at that point you will probably have as much torque as a 300 bhp YB Cossie.
AFAIK they never sold them in the UK, though.

the mrs had a 24 valvole probe and it did everything a probe was supposed to do,alarm problems,would cut out when driving.
sold it to a medalion man and thought never again,it was so bad it put us off a cougar lol.
i would rather have a a pair of nike's and walk than muck around with a probe.
they do say the name killed off the car over here as lets face it who wants a car called somthing you do to your ring piece or mott lol

I need to learn that a snidy tag is the way to go. In anycase, there is no way I am driving all the way to Newcastle for a kicking

, how can a probe be more pleasing on the eye than a saff or a escort cossie .Its a ford and thats what matters.
