Painting/protecting a shell after acid dip/oven clean
If you had a shell that has been acid dipped or oven cleaned how do people go about protecting inside the sills and inside the chassis rails?

Depends on what car is general steps
1. remove all filler putty seam sealer
2. then its dipped in alkaline solution to remove remaining greese residue
3. dipped in hydrochloric acid to remove corrosion then re-dipped in alkaline solution
4. dipped again in another alkaline solution to neutralise the acid
5. jet washed and dried
6. dipped into zinc primer then baked in oven
You have to be careful with thin metal panels they do like to warp and from personal experience the cars tend to start rusting again from inside out from box sections and chassis rails where the acid couldnt be fully neutralised it continues to eat away.
The stupid thing with acid dipping its only worth while on cars with minimal corrosion in first place and readily available panels often cheaper to find another shell or cut out and replace the rot in first place. You have to weigh up which is best solution for you and current state of the shell. If you need any advice just ask mate
