Default detailng peeps

ok, i haven't called you weirdo's or nerd's or the like (even though you may be ) so now you can offer me some advice please

the neighbour, being the cunt that he is, had some work done on his tiles on the roof and the builers spalshed a few flakes of cement onto the mondeo

i've given up chipping it out with my nails as it's taking too long to grow them back again

so, is there anything that takes cement off the paintwork or do i carry on chipping my nails?

You could try detailing clay (Halfords sell a couple of kits, or try www.cleanyourcar.co.uk). TBH I've never come across this sort of problem before

the cc thing i may try out, sounds good

as for claybars, i've never understood how they work and i don't want to fuck the paint up like some people say you can with them

might have to click some links and ask the official nerds on how to clean the car

Firstly, try soaking a paper towel in vinegar and putting it on the cement. It should soften it enough to make it removable.

I would also go to http://www.bilthamber.com/autoclay.html

and get one of their clays. It can be used with water instead of a QD and is really easy to use.

Once it is all removed, the paint will need to be polished and reprotected with a sealer and wax.

You need to get in and behind it first to take off the majority, otherwise a big blob of cement on a clay bar won't do any good to your paintwork.

I personally would lube up the surrounding area with some quick detailing spray or make a quick mix of car soap and water so that when it chips off it doesn't scratch the paintwork.

Then I'd clay it. Tip to claying is to ensure there is enough clay to act as lubrication but not too much as to limit the effect it has.

noooooooo do not do this................

the clay obviosly holds the contaminents from the paint and if you do this you will end up needing too get a full machine polish at the very least as you will scratch the car too fuck,,,, really hot water (not quite boiling) will soften it off enough to pick it off then a little t-cut or compound will take off the rest and then a good couple of coats of polish and the jobs done..

trust me i was a PROPER car valeter for 13 yrs and ive done this a couple of times, you would be amazed what ends up too stuck too some peoples cars

You can't clay till the car is clean.

Credit card - small ice scraper, but go careful! Wash after, good polish, job done!

Either that or park it across your neighbours drive and ask him if he wouldn't mind removing his cement from your car?
