Default Sold my Lightning this morning, what now?!

Sold the F150 Lightning this morning to a couple of chaps who travelled from Preston, didnt really look around it too much and paid the asking price - easiest sale ever!!

However, not a clue what to replace it with!! Was going to buy a Chrysler 300C on some 22's and be a drug dealer/pimp for a while but the missus has convinced its probably a bad idea!!

So, any ideas? Got about 13k/14k to spend, can't be overly juicy on fuel and got to be fairly practical (ie - half decent boot etc) and also dont really want to go older than a 2003 in age. Missus has ruled out an Evo already so forget that one!! 350Z is on the cards but would prefer a 4 seater, maybe even a convertible!

Why has your missus ruled out an Evo? Is in not 100% your own money?

May I be the 1st to say M5 (although maybe no the best on fuel)

She just doesnt like them, plus i've owned one before (evo 7) and with the way the petrol prices are going i'd like something better on juice! It is 100% my money yes!

m5 possibly but finding a decent low miler is difficult, ruled out M3's now due to all the ones i've been looking at arent that clean!

Audi S4? They're that sort of ballpark aren't they... apart from that, the answer that I'm sure a lot of people on here will give is: E46 M3. They just tick so many boxes and good ones are available for your budget too, hard to ignore.

Cheers,
Grant

M5s are ok but i find them very old looking now? Had a 530i sport on a 51 plate a few years back and except for obviously under the bonnet they're not a great deal different.

Grant - Audi S4 would be nice but i think the facelift ones (chrome front mouth thing) are still a spit too dear. Definitely worth going to look at one though . Have heard they sound awesome!

Yea I think you're right about a decent facelift model being a little over budget.. unless you go higher mileage, which reduces the chance of having one that you're gonna be happy with.

A friend has a pre-facelift S4 Avant with a Milltek Non-Res System on it and it does sound quite naughty, its hard to beat the V8 soundtrack. I think he gets c20mpg in his average, but does quite a bit of town driving for his business.

Cheers,
Grant

At that money my choice would be E46 m3 but sadly there are more rough ones out there than good at your money

That's the one I was going to suggest. Lovely motor, more than capable, and well within budget.

Worth looking at the 2.0TFSI A4's with your budget.

Bit more tuneable, and are the newer facelifted B7 type.

Also, Quattro is a must.

With a remap you'd have near S4 performance, but with decent fuel economy too.

There are a hell of a lot of top notch pre-facelift ones out there for that kind of money. But I'd probably be looking to buy a facelift, which at that money is bottom end of the market I guess.

There are some tasty-looking facelifts with under 40k for that kind of cash, but all in Northern Ireland!

Awesome car, but you'll be scraping the bottom of the barrel for a 6.0 at that price. I've only ever seen one 6.0 for that price and it had done a hell of a lot of miles for a 2006 car and was CAT D registered.

I wouldn't bother with the 5.7. Still a decent car and you don't see many about, but without the vents and kit etc they look a bit bland.

Don't be a sheep and buy a bmw....

Go for the 300c, for sure not the best of quality car, but be a pimp for a while, while you're young enough to get away with it! Save the bmw for when you're nipping down to get your pension

Nah not a RR!! Was looking through pistonheads / autotrader last night and looks like i'm going to have a look at a few Audi S4 Avants, seems like a lot of car for the money. Does anyone know anything about them or what I should look for? (around a 2003 / 2004 model)

Not really sure mate, mainly because it was totally impractical, too big to park anywhere and the interior was shite, no creature comforts etc etc. Petrol wasnt fantastic but I didnt drive it a great deal so wasnt an issue.

LOL, too big to park??!?!?!??

Yours was only a baby F150!! lol. Look at the size of mine lol:

I can't comment on the rest though with mine being a special edition so it has all the mod cons, never seen a bog standard F150 before.

Petrol is a joke in mine, 5.4 v8 supercharged, what engine was in yours?

--------------------------

With regards to a new car....... I would go for an Audi S6.

I bet they are Jay but boot space etc isnt fantastic (big but access is limited), plus i think they look a little old now? Having no luck with the Avant's either, all of em seem to have already been sold!
