Default Just got home from work - ANOTHER suicide for me today :(

the driver of my train got a message saying that the driver of the train coming from manchester airport thought he had hit someone/something (spookily at the same time (4:20am) and within half a mile of mine which i had 2 weeks before crimbo) this morning, my driver was asked to inspect the line as we were the first train back over the route - but no-one told me what was going on - went past it, saw the body in the 4 foot and tried ringing the driver on the cab-cab fone - but got no answer - which annoyed me a fair wack. - no-one told me that the line was going to be inspected so it was right out of the blue - thought my mind was playing tricks on me, untill i asked when we got to preston then found out the above

reason i thought my mind was playing tricks on me was the fact that we passed it about 40mph and the light wasn't overly brilliant - and i flicked the headlight on at the back to see what it was as i thought i could see clothes and shoes

what the spooky thing is, same route, same time (for the train that hit) and same place on the line within half mile on the same side of the line (down main)

someone up there really doesn't like me on early morning blackpool runs

knew it was going to be a bad morning when i saw 2 black cats walk infront of me this morning

i love my career - i'm going driving as soon as a vacancy arises - then i can see what the train hits

i'm not upset about this one tho - just annoyed that i wasnt informed of the line inspection - i could of made myself busy in the train so i didnt have to look at it

the differance is if someone takes their own life then its their problem

i would be upset if it was somoeone taking a shortcut and crossing the line - thats a differant game, but if you hit someone who lays on the line with all intents and purpose of death then it puts a differant angle on it

everyone deals with it differantly aswell remember.

ian - don't worry about it m8 - thats why trains have guards - they can go back and look at the mess while the drivers gets on the emergency radio

and alex - ya tart

LOL yeah but the driver's get to see the action as it happens

How often does it happen BTW? I know theres no sort of routine for suicides but on average how many would a driver/guard see?

you'd be surprised how little the drivers see when it happens

theres drivers who have been at manchester 20 years and havn't had one - some with some guards

its luck of the draw, but suicides are seasonal - exam time and christmas time. - guess i'm just unlucky

there was a nasty one yesterday at lancaster on the west coast main line - a virgin train doing 110mph hit someone, and at that speed, people explode - there was a triangle of shit, guts, mess, blood and body for 800 yards from the point of impact to the point of stopping the train - nice and messy - thats when someone jumps infront of the train, if someone lays on the line - no mess, jsut a nice few choice cuts

I know a lot of people see suicide as a selfish act but my view is that when someone gets to the stage of actually doing it they have decided everybody is better off without them.

My ex girlfriend did it in October after we had finished 4 weeks previously and left 2 young kids. She was only 35 !
Thankfully she left me for someone else and we hadn`t been together too long
Its still a shock though
