Default home entertainment

I'd like to install a surround system in the home, but want one that plays normal music properly too, and is compatibly with other stuff in the future.

So seperate dvd player, seperate amplifier/s ?

Any stuff that's recommendable ? Don't want to go to see a specialist and get ripped off

How much do you have to spend mate?
Not sure what places over here deliver over there, but the new Denon range is good, I'm looking at them at the moment, you need a good DVD player for decent quality music and at the end of the day decent speakers too.
Do you already have a hifi and want to add it on, or starting from scratch?

I'm starting from scratch really.
No idea about budget, but wouldn't go over 1k I guess.
500£ sounds loads better to be honest, lol.

Have been looking at philips dvd players, they sound cool with divx capability and stuff. Also have a Dell LCD TV with all the possible inputs.

And i'm capable of doing any cabling work etc.. so don't want to pay specialist prices and not benefit from it.
