Ideas for an M-Tech project Ford
Anyone any thoughts?
I was toying with the idea of a twin engined Mk2 Fezzy...
One in the front, one in the back, both throwing about 300bhp each...
The crazier the idea the better!!

Yeh it was more of a 'something mad' idea.
I do prefer RWD over FWD however, maybe mid engined? Or drop scooby running gear under a fezzy chassis?
hmm....

hmm KA Duratec turbo in the back.... that sounds tempting!
ideally wanted to go for a real oldschool rusty beaten nail of a Mk2, silly power but standard interior, tartan blanket on the back seat, trilby hat in the rear window, the works... that would be interesting! running on 13" steels as well of course lol

at a guess u want the engine in the back! what about a cossie YB in back of a mk2 not sure of room but could have a custom short drive prop, so would be more mid engine, if u could get the engine close to front seats but you may want ear defenders on tho!

I would say something that can adeqately demonstrate your companys abilities so maybe a modern engine that people have not started to play with to much and a new shape Fiesta or something,

lol this is getting silly, all this talk of YBs and being in the middle of things lol! (actually exactly the sort of things I was thinking!)
Mike, we mainly specialise in standalone engine management installation and mapping, but we also do roll cage instalaltion, seam welding, and general tuning on performance vehicles. We look after quite a few cars/teams that compete in hill climbs, sprints and series such as the castle combe saloon car champs. Also find outselves building supercharged zetecs for kit cars as well as finishing kit car builds for IVAs and so forth.
I think project wise, we need 2 things: A chosen chassis/shell, and a chosen powerplant...
Powerplant, one of my fav options is a circa 400bhp Supercharged (rotrex) Zetec, we've built a couple and they pull like trains. Quite good in terms of power delivery as well so maybe try something FWD, then move it to the back at a later date? Or.... we have a fibreglass firm just around from us, pehaps a fibreglass focus body over a spaceframed 500+bhp 4WD setup?
The aim really would be using the car for hill-climb and sprints, so being light is a plus chassis wise...

Yeah that was my thoughts hence the Mk2 (my first car!).... you;re all gunna laugh at this but when I was 17 (several years ago now, and you'll all be glad to know that we don't do bodywork at M-Tech!) I discovered something called a Panuique bodykit and P45 filler..... I did this in my garage with rattle cans. It was a nail of a 1.1, but I thought it was the NUTZ!! Its long gone now sold it to a chap from notts for Ł600 lol!! I can hear the LOLs from here!!
I really shoudnt of posted them but hell, we've all done it, right?

So something modern with a modern power plant you make the chassis and cage and have some fibre glass panels put over, develope the engine say a modern engine from the current Ford range not something as old a Zetec say a modern 5 cylinder engine like Austen W is playing with and make a name for yourself with it
It is easy to be a sheep, make something people shout about if it is a company demo, show the best you can do and be groundbreaking

Mk6 Fiesta Van, standard out side, space framed rear with Twin R1 Engines in the rear run by 2 of your V4 ECU's with Fly By Wire for the throttle.
Or another Mk6 Fiesta with a Compound Charged Duratec in a space framed rear chassis. Again Std outside.

seeing as you have a soft spot for the mk2 fez stick with that and depending on how hard you want to make it and how many spare hours you can devote to it stick a zetec turbo/supergharger in the back run it on a foci rs box so easier just to run hydrolic clutch and cable select then you'll have rwd and the weight will transfer over wheels for sprints or quarter stuff, if you've got a bit more time try a new st engine but running 400@wheels in rear too either would be fun
