Default Any disadvantages of heat wrapping manifolds?

I read somewhere on a forum topic alittle while ago and someone said that heat wrapping an exhaust manifold for an N/A engine can have a negative effect on pressure waves. Is there any truth in this? Are there gains to be had from heat wrapping the exhaust?

Cheers, Simon.

The main draw back is the reduced life span...

i beleive there is a thing of over cooling but im not sure if that can actually happen or if its a marketing ploy to sell a worse product

and it increases pressuse in the manifold so its all good imo

id be tempted to do the rest of thje system with a spray on heat barrier product to help keep pressure up in the system

Is it necessary on the car in question, i.e. are underbonnet temps a problem?

under cooling?

Its not a cooling aid - all it helps with is maintaining energy in the exh system and lowering under bonet temps.

i have my cossie manifold wrapped, and 75% of my exhaust system.
i am going to redo it all again soon.
im going to get it coated in zircotec, fanny mould, turbo housing, exhaust, then heat wrap it with propper dei wrap and sealer.

it made a HUGE difference in my car with just the wrap, the zircotec will help even more.

I heard about them cracking because the heat is contained and so they get hotter :/
Whether there's truth in that I don't know.
