Default Cam belt snapped, now wont fire up

Hi, i just replaced my cam belt as it snapped i have correctly fitted it but it wont fire up just turns. I no the valves will have gone but shouldnt it at least fire up?? spark and fuel are there?

what car? if valves are bent you maybe losing compression

if valves are gone then NO it wont fire up.

Mine snapped 16 valves and a £2000 rebuild later good as new

Yer its the FRST engine, i guess i will do compression test to check. I can get hold of a new head i may just replace the valves then hope 4 best

lol if you belt snaped and has bent your valves the pistons will be coming up in your cilinders on there compression stroke but wont be compressing any think as it will be leaking out through the belt valves.......... thats if a valve head isent stuck in your piston

If the belt has snaped i would imagine you have done more damage! And merley replacing the belt wont fix it Time to get that wallet back out chap!

snapped belt = bent valves and piston crowns at the least grazed.

deffo need to strip the engine.

As said assuming it's timed up correctly, it would have no doubt damaged valves when it snapped. You would know if was incorrectly timed would have thought by the noise when turning over. If valves are damaged engine will have no compression and so will not start.

if you are going to replace valves then make sure you check the valve guides arnt cracked round the bottom

also make sure the pistons arnt marked too bad

we had a yb come in with a snapped cambelt and it done the head pistons everything

so get it to bits fella unfortunately

get stuck there is plenty of us who will help amongst the piss takers lol
