Default Mondeo MK2 1.8TD - Leaking Injector

My Mum asked me to service her car ready for an MOT on thursday which iv done, but whilst doing so I noticed quite a bit of wetness around an injector and once the engine had been switched off, a hissing noise as presure from the cylinder is released via the leak.

Is this a common problem? Is it likely the fault lies with the injector or the cylinder head itself? There was alot of grime surrounding the injector so its not quite easy to tell.

Thanks

Tim

Common problem, if slight don't worry, if worried take injector out, and heat up the copper washer till cherry red then allow to cool, this will re anneal(soften) it, so it seals better.

There is a little Diesel return pipe that goes from injector to injector, one of those hasn't got a little leak in it, has it? If so VERY easy to replace - they just pull off / push on.

If you follow this (correct) advice, be aware it can only be done a few times before the copper turns brittle.

The leak is 100% inbetween the injector and cylinder head.

Another quick question, Where the fuck is the fuel filter on this car? Couldnt find it in the engine bay so i imagine it is under the car by the tank? Also need to figure out which is the bleed screw for when this is changed.

Thanks again
