Default Anyone here been on sking holiday?

Thinking of going for a few days week max to possible Andorra. Is this a good place for a first time skier?

Basically the only sking i have done is on a dry slope when i was 13 and that was only a few times. Now totally forgot everything And then had a quick go of snow boarding in Dubai lol.

Do you think for someone who basically cannot ski be worth going on a sking holiday? Always fancied it but never done it.

Get a few days in one of them snow domes (real snow) first just to give you the basics ,been to pas la casa its ok would not go back ,too commercialized for me but if your going with the lads and want a piss up its perfect as cheap fags and booze ,been skiing since 1981,

I went to Andorra when I was 13 with the School on a skiing trip, I thoroughly enjoyed it, the weather was amazing, but I can't for the life of me remember what the place was called

Do it mate, it's not hard once you've got the basics.

I went livigno in Italy last year. Loads of snow and it's duty free. They have lots of runs and they have an awsone ski school where the instructors are either in the national ski team or have been. Can't recommend it enough.

I have been to Austria a couple of times on skiing hols, absolutely loved it.It was years ago but I still have a set of boots and skis.
Just remember this for when you first start "Snow plough, snow plough" lol.
I wouldn't advise just having a go,you need an instructor to start otherwise it will be broken limbs or worse still death

Try Soll in Austria, everyone speaks really good english (its one of the top British ski destinations) Village is beautiful, excellent nightlife, excellent english speaking skischools, largest inter-linked skiing area in europe and its pretty cheap (for a skiing holiday)

i can recommend the Sporthotel Modlinger, partially because its run by my Uncle and Aunt, but mainly because its a bloody good hotel, comfy rooms and good food (Breakfast and Dinner) and its got a Bar, and a sauna! and you get discount off skihire from Steinbacher skihire

ive been to andorra aswell, i think its ok there! good for a few drinks after all day on the board

I went skiing with school years ago as a complete novice. Had an amazing week! Best holiday ever! Wouldn't recommend doing the same for anyone else though. Personally I'd get as much of the learning to ski out of the way before you go. It ain't too dear nowadays and it means that when you arrive on your holiday that you've paid however many hundreds of pounds for you can spend it doing exactly what you feel like. We went somewhere on the swiss/french border and the amount of places we could have explored if we weren't tied into a ski school were immense! Think we spent half a day or more on the nursery slopes. That was a tenth of my holiday gone to start with! Lol

I'm actually on my way to the snow dome at Hemel Hempstead now for my second ever lesson.

All my expert mates have said it's a good idea to get the basics down before you go, which I'm doing and then to do ski school when you're there.

Also a good idea to go with at least one other beginner so you're not on your own for large portions of the day.

I went to Andorra as a learner skier on a school trip in about 83. Was a fab holiday tbh, well suited to beginners. It was dirt cheap back then as well.
