Hi im new to this, my cam belt has just snapped wondering where to start with it and how to line it up ect. Any 1s help would be extremley helpfull. . . .

 

you need to take the head off mate and have a look for any damage done first.

 

As above, get the head checked for damage, most likely there will be some.

 

If it was idling or going very low revs when it snapped you will most likely be ok.
As you're not too familiar with these I would take the head off, otherwise you could simply put another belt on and do a compression test.

ok i thought i would have to, i have a new cambelt i got told i could try putting it on and spin it by hand listen for any noise is this a option. as i was literally pulling out of my drive and it went?

 

it will have bent a few valves, i bent 5 when my rst belt snapped whilst idling.

I would think there would be some damage

 

i always try a belt on before i take the head off and how easy they are on cvh's i'd deff try it,

 

dont bother and out it, if its the 3i turbo i could have a deal am local too

 

bent valves ,piston damage without a doubt

 

yer it is the 3i, what the deal??

 

i bent 12 valves in my rs2000 when the bottom sprocket snapped its locating peg

 

ive had a couple go at idle, no damage whatsoever,very lucky!!
