Default ITunes Question

Bloody ITunes!

The hard drive on laptop was getting full, so i bought an external drive copied all music from laptop to external, in ITunes under preferences - advanced changed ITunes media folder location to the external drive, but now when i rip a cd thru itunes it ends up going back onto my laptop drive, i also still have a folder for itunes on my laptop drive even tho i copied to external and deleted it.

Anyone have any ideas

it shouldnt go to the laptop drive if you have set it right.

Maybe have another look in preferences.

I had similar problems. What I ended up doing was backing up the music onto discs (itunes converts it into a data cd), then removing itunes, re-installing itunes onto the external drive, selecting the external drive as the default folder then re-loading the dackup discs onto the external drive.

Total pain in the arse but the only way I could get it to work!

Just thought of something, would it be becuase i have 2 ITunes accounts ? i thought for my music it wouldn't matter, but when opening the other account (logging into their windows account opening ITunes) there media folder points to the C: drive ?

Also the external HD hasn't an OS so cant install ITunes onto there

Sorry got a bit confused with what I was typing there! I re-installed itunes onto the computer's hard drive, then selected the external drive as default storage when it was installing!
