Free ford parts!!!
OK. WENT TO MY LOCAL BRISTOL STREET FORD TODAY TO ORDER A CAMBELT AND TENSIONER FOR MY RS500.
THIS IS HOW THE CONVERSATION WENT;
ME; MORNING. COULD I HAVE A CAMBELT AND TENSIONER FOR A RS500 SIERRA PLEASE.
HIM; OK SIR (LOOKS ON COMP) WAS THAT A FOCUS?
ME; NO.... A SIERRA RS500
HIM; WHAT ENGINE SIZE
ME; 2 LTR TURBO
HIM; A FOCUS 2 LTR TURBO?

HIM; IS THAT A MONDEO THEN

well done! same when i go in dealers for bits for my rst, they had an old guy in there who was spot on, used to go in an get bits for my mk2 escort an rs no problem, then went in one day and a young lad came out, i ask when the old guy was and was told me he had left, took him age's to find car on computer never mind what i wanted. same evey time i goin now, fookin idiot

I remember Karl Norris telling me a story once.
Goes along the lines of gearbox went in his 3dr one day - so he calls RAC who agree to send a flat bed truck that tilts due the front etc.
RAC ask is it standard/modified - obviously standard - which I think at that time it was externally (ie wheels)
Anyways the truck turns up with some oik on board who then refuses to take the 3door due to it being modified.
Karls asks how - the guy says well its got an aftermarket body kit and wheels on it!!!!!!!

i have had the same problem with the granada cosworth pics didnt show the turbo studs i was after when i went into the local ford agent, also got asked whether i want front or rear drive shaft boots, for a three door cossie, surely there should be some sort of test to work there!!!

I'm sure Oranoco went to his local Ford dealers for soemthing for his ERST and they said there wasn't a Turbo charged Escort before the Escort Cosworth 
If that wasn't bad enough, he took the chap out side and lifted the bonnet and said well whats that then, to which he replied, thats the air con pump

It's only a car, not everyone knows about Cossies & perhaps he's just started working there & this was the first time he's had to look for a Cosworth part.
Or maybe he was reeling you in as he could see that you were getting wound up at him not knowing what your Sierra was as if it was some kind of supercar that eveyone should know of

ford aint seen a cossie i doubt in almost 10 years.... they dont actually care about them tbh and i remember my old boss HATING THEM as " all the owners of these cars are pricks who think they know everything,, but know nothing" which,,,,,,, well ill let you decide pmsl

3rd/ i dont think they are supercars, just iconic, that most ford people should really know something about, especially as i did say it was a sierra about 5 times.
4th/ the reg wouldnt go in....too early

had a bloke with a renault Alpine and i NEVER heard of one,,, he gave me so much mouth about it like i should know all about em,,,, if he described it as the ugley renault that looks like a cheep kit car version of porsche designed by stevie wonder and drawn by hes cat,,,, i MIGHT have had a idea

luckily i am a very very long fused person. it wasnt the fact that he didnt know what a 500 was..... more the fact that he wasnt listening to what i was saying, and then had the cheek to comment about scrapping a car he knew fuck all about.
anyway... next time im at a meet, hayles can take it for a spin as she is now officially my mate!!! lol
