Blue point was bought out by Snap-On years ago ... The older stuff is decent ..

Newer stuff looks wank ...

not sure if they still are but halfords pro range used to be made by facom who are definately on a par with bluepoint.

bluepoint isn't made by snap on it's a name they use to brand tools they basically buy in but they are still of a very good quality just most of the time you can get the exact tool cheaper if it doesn't say bluepoint on it.

havent broken a thing or had a problem with anything with bluepoint on it, snap on ratchets though these days are weak as fuck!

Correct & Correct. I used to work at the Britool factory (Owned by Facom) Before I left they were importing tools from China and 'Branding' them. I have a few Halfrauds torque wrenches, built in house by Britool...

No Bluepoint stuff in my box Matey!!!! Only Snap On!!!!

A few years ago I needed a tool for something, cant remember what, but my mate is a Tool Rep. I rung him and asked him for the Tool. He said he had it available but was made by Laser. He sent it in a Laser Box, but had Bluepoint all over the tool!!! thats how I found out. I asked the Snap On rep and he denied it.

One of the lads bought the Bluepoint extended bits for the battery mini screwdriver, my mate brought me the same set by Laser. The embarresment of the Snap On dealers face..............Priceless

See how many Bluepoint items you can see here.

Aye .. Wasnt saying you had any fella ... You just proved a point that its a cheaper version.

Lifetime warranty dont mean the tool is any good .. Lifetime warranty isnt worth the paper its printed on if you bust a socket wide open in the middle of nowhere in the middle of the night ..

Most of the blue point stuff is just re-branded chinese made stuff, same as rolson, lazer etc. Iv'e seen exactly the same products on the shelf (i.e, a LED light i have) with a rolson logo on it and it was half the price.

The halfords pro stuff is brilliant. I use it every day, and had it for 4 years now. spot on stuff

Bluepoint is Snap On's way of selling tools to the Apprentices on the weekly!!!

50% mark up on all Snap On stuff!!! and an APR that would make a loan shark cringe!!!!

50% mark up on all snap on stuff???? I wish!!! Im a snapon dealer and believe me there is most def not a 50% mark up on the tools and there is no APR on the RA (weekly) If you purchase somthing on EC then there is interest on it as its a loan!! and you pay it off over the set period you choose. As for the blue point tools yes SOME of them may well be the same/similar as the laser and other brands but it just is a way of snapon being competitive with other companies and a way of them supplieing the customer everything to avoid them going to other suppiers... snapon own a great deal of other companies and continue to use there name such as Sun, John bean and so on it just keeps people happy to purchase a name that is well known althiugh snapon are behind it.

So to sum it up Bluepoint tools are very good and will last a very long time and are of excellent quality, They are aimed at the guy who cant quite afford snapon tools but may go spend his money at Halfords,MAC and so on they have lifetime warranty and i have no probs changeing them for my customers as long as they aint taken the piss
Hope this helps

We have a Blue Point engine crane, its exactly the same as the Draper one. Personally, I don't really rate Blue Point stuff, it's certainly not like Snap On. Gary buys their Gas Soldering Irons, but I think they are just cheap Ł10 Chinese ones with the Blue Point name on.

Halfords Professional stuff always seems to get highly spoken about, I'd look at that. They do a line of tool boxes too in 2 spec levels, the higher ones have roller bearing drawers etc and look really nice.

I don't know about pricing at home in Uk but here in NZ I buy all my stuff Bahco, apparently "owned" by SnapOn.

My brother in law paid almost double what I did for a BluePoint set of sockets and spanners in a plastic carry box. I bought a Bahco set in almost exactly the same box but it had 1/3 more sockets/spanners in it about 3 weeks later. He has had 2 new 1/4 drive ratchets in 3 years and I have yet to replace mine, he has also broken 2 sockets, again I haven't broken any.

I love Baho stuff and don't buy anything else now, in fact I just bought one of these to put them all in..... http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...m=130311699330 - Just the chest not all the tools, but if I was at home I would buy that lot.

Nothing wrong with 80% of Blue Point branded stuff. Some of it is shite but the majority of it is good stuff.
