Default genuine question

ok please dont shoot me down in flames, this is a genuine question as im just about stuck atm, im going to be doing a deal on a fiesta rs with my 328i bmw. all good and well so far, however the car in question has possible hg issues and is 100 odd miles down the m4.
my plan as i dont have a trailer or know anybody with one, also have got no reasonable quotes is to drive my bmw there, and this is the not so good part, whip the thermostat and of the fiesta and hope to fuck that its going to be ok for the journey home, i do have aa so covered but i know the bad points about doing this but my thinking is, it would be last on saturday night, nice long run, no traffic hopefully so fingers crossed no real issues??? i hope

as soon as you've picked up the Fiesta just ring the AA and say the head gasket has gone and overheated

As above, if you already have AA car why not just call them up once you got the car and say its just broken down?

with a rope you can only tow off motorways, not onto

seriously; just look at your AA policy, there might or might not be a mileage limit for being recovered. If there isnt, just pick the car up drive it round the corner and then phone them.

cant you get him to meet you halfway?; its seems as if he wants the better end of this deal?

be careful with HG problems too; make sure it is just head gasket and not something more serious

well its a paint in the arse tbh as the car is in south wales, yet he works in norfolk and im in between but he wont drive it, which is fair i suppose. tbh even if its an engine overhaul or replacement im still getting the better deal but just have to do work whereas the bmw is all good. i think i might try and see if i can get some more quotes on getting in brought to me

I have sold a car in the past and the buyer just called his breakdown cover and said he had broken down after staying at a friends for the weekend, and needed to get the kids home etc so had left the car where it was.

Gave them my address and asked me to say I was 'his mate' and they turned up, i gave them the keys and they took the car back to him over 100 miles away.

He had never been to mine lol!!

Need to have full home recovery though. Can't see why you couldn't call them and say it blown the head and you need a lift back home with it, if they turn up tell them it overheated and your not risking driving it.

Just take out breakdown cover with another company if you have used your current one to much. Personally i find aa well over priced. You can get cover for 50 quid ish. Its a cheap way of getting the car home.

Have you got a friend who has recovery to home?

I'm with RAC and they cover me in any come I am in, even if I'm the passenger in the car.

They will recover the car to where ever I want.
