Tbh it doesn't really matter it's still better then that Ford bolt you get, and for a fiver you can't go wrong.
If I was buying one I'd prefer to pay £5 then £19 or whatever they are?

Indeed, but if you believe all you read on the net, all engines built over the last 100 years have been at risk as none have previously used magnetic sump plugs...

How long till this is binned like aroncastmajigs posts were?

i bought one from china as everyone said they'd be crap when stu started selling them, mate stuck it in a industrial deep fat fryer at about 220degrees c for half hour and was still holding its magnetic charge so should be fine to go in engine in my opinion

sorry but am i the only one who is more worried where the metal filings are comming from rather than if my magnet will pick these up

a bit like using a mop on the kitchen floor,,,,,,, ok a REALY REALLY good mop that takes away water quicker than a regular mop........ i would rather find where the leak is though tbh as i recon theres a larger problem there

oh and filters filter down VERY small micros these days,,,,,, another thing to think about too if we are holding onto metal in the sump rather than in the filters ?

its for the very fine swarf which passes through the filter. and engines wear so will always get fine swarf sadly

VERY VERY important should you managed to loose a teaspoon in your sump,, the amount of warranty claims i deal with where a steak knife has blocked the oil pump this year,,,,,,,, if i had a fiver for each one ive delt with,,

microns we are talking about here,,,, like christian i wanna see what peoples sump plugs look like after oil changes

oh and Bamo,,.... 220 degrees you tested it,,,,, may i sugest that if your sump has oil in it of that temp then the swarf in the oil is the last of your issues,,,,, your headgasket is gonna be fucked for a start as a min !!!!

my oil dont go over 110 degrees and thats at the ring being driven like a cunt and didnt even happen much tbh, twice that and ill be too busy looking on ebay for a new engine that i doubt i would bother even undoing the sump plug on my fucked engine pmsl

They are cheaper here if you want a cheap one guys:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Magnetic-Drain...item518ed34fb0 Not bad supply times either as I ordered from them during testing.

Also, a few members on here have taken those out and fitted mine, so a quick ad in wanted section may get you a used one even cheaper!

As for why was Aaroncasts post deleted, its simple. He was banned and made a new username to cause trouble. I dont care about competition at all, if people want to compete on quality or price then bring it on, I welcome it.

Ref the oil temperature test, dont forget that you need MOVING oil to test it as the magnets strength doesnt dissipate totally it is just heavily reduced above 80C. Its moving oil and high G force that throws the contaminant off it.

For reference, our magnets are the new N45SH High temp Neodymium magnets which only very recently became manufacturable to us. There is no stronger High temp Neodymium magnet on the market today.

All magnetic drain plugs are not created equal and one should examine and see how powerful a Dimple® drain plug is to fully understand it's potential to rid your oil of contaminants. As with most things, you get what you pay for.

kieron tested it for me as i wanted to see if magnet would weaken under heat as didnt want to be dropping swarth around engine in a lump.

engines wear,,,, which is why we change the oil and have oil filters due to this,,, do you know how small 30 microns actually is,,,,, thats the AVERAGE of a basic filter,, some as lower aswell

there was a post on here before showing the swarf collected on one which made sense to have one to me tbh swarf no matter what size is always a bad thing so helping to keep it out of moving parts is surely a good thing??

im just saying id be more worried about where the swarf has actually came from and why as my filter not caught it either..... it seems too much like the turbo pre filters that dont filter as good as the general oil filter,,,, which ill let you decide on that

i aint bothered with one on my car and,, well i dont have any swarf in my oil thats killed my engine

See thats the problem, are you not picking anything up because the magnet isnt strong enough, or is it that you engine isnt full of swarf?

if the magnets get too strong id be worried about the man hole covers that jump up and hammer the sump flat,,, or getting stuck on a level crossing
