Hello all, (first post, here goes)
Just a few questions for all you cossie owners as i will be fitting a YB lump in my E30 soon.
Are rwd and 4x4 aluminium engine mountings interchangeable? will one from a 4x4 fit the rwd block?
I've got all the conversion bits to drop this engine in my e30 but minus the engine and gearbox. The Custom mounts were fitted to a 200 block but i don't want to end up buying a rwd engine only to find the pitch of the holes on the block are different or somthing. If they are the same then either engine could do.
A few of my mates have had Sierra Cosworths so i know a little about them. From what i've been told the wiring loom on a 4x4 is totally different to the rwd? can a 200 block engine work off a rwd loom or are the connector plugs to the engine different between the two versions?
I'm sure i've got the wiring loom for a rwd mated to the bmw one.
Thanks

the block drillings are the same and the tps sensor plugs need the 2 outside wires swopped round on early 4x4 cossie i belive,,,, cant think of any other differences tbh apart from the later green top engines that had cats and closed loop

As said on engines the mounts are the smae so use whatever mounts you need to.
Depending on what ecu you are using with what loom will determine if any wires need to be swapped around on the tps plug, it's just a case of swapping round the outer two when needed so easy enough.
ECU colours the same on 2wd and 4wd save for a couple of differences.
The oil pressure light can change colour between the two car looms, but assume you woin't be using this anyway.
I've got all the ecu colours and differences written down somewhere.
There's nothing major to worry about though with install

Can you use a 2wd ecu on a 200 block for example?
Are distributors different, i think the caps are or the plug that goes onto it?
So a red top 4x4 engine won't come with a cat?
Basicly i'm trying to understand what the differences are between the 2.
I'm sure the parts came from a car that had a 200 block using a rwd loom and pectel ecu. If this is all possible then i should be ok sourcing bit.
