Are the plugs in ok, sounds as if an air leak may have been introduced.

Idle control valve maybe? They are quite a common failiure on the focus. Could just be coincidence that they've failed at the same time?

Maybe coincedence, but these suffer with speedo sensor faults which cause

them to stall at junctions, keep an eye on the speedo to see if it stops

working when it stalls.

Thought that only happened on the 1.8/2.0 Focus?

As said above Idle Control Valve would be the thing i would be looking at next, either clean it or replace it.

It is most likely just something disturbed if it's only just started doing it, maybe a broken pipe on PCV system("T" piece), or sometimes the pcv valves themselves jam open so it leans it all the time, the valve should shut at idle.
Would not hurt to clean the iscv though, and reset the ecu by pulling the KAM fuse for a minute, 2 amp violet one.
