Angry been burgled

the other house has been ransacked, properly turned over with bits and bobs all over the shop

broke in through the kitchen window and have gone through all the rooms but so far the only things missing that we've been able to figure out are all my dads bank stuff, his passport, driving license and some gold, a few rings and a gold kara

coppers arrived about an hour after to have a check to see what was what, it wasn't an emergency so no need for full delta force blues and twos and helicopters and the like and he's just left and we are waiting for soco to turn up

the thing that's really got me pissed off though is that everyone we've spoken to has cancled the cards, passports and all sorts, other than the dvla, who want £20 to send out a new driving license, the robbing cunts

might just fuck them off and not get a replacement, paper licenses are not replaced so that's a fucker

anyway, so how was your day then?

no alarm mate
and the old man wasn't about to dish out meat cleaver style justice like he did with the last one he nearly caught, running down the street in his keks at 3 in the morning

thing is, my old dear called me and said "there might be someone in the house, come round" so i went round thinking "should i really be carrying the meat cleaver? what about singh who got stabbed yesterday? will the police lock me up if i chop the fuckers arms and legs off with one swing? (trust me, the size of this fucker would do that ) should i just let them go and then let the police deal with it?" etc

so in the end i bowled up with the cleaver in my hand and starting shouting "if you are up there you better be shitting bricks, because i'm coming up to cut your hands off"

luckily they had made good their escape so i didn't need to cut anything off, but i'm wondering what will happen now, don't want to turn the house into fort knox

dojj you dont need it fort knox just secure the weak points. was it single glazing window they smashed? double glazing is just as good a security upgrade as it is an insulation upgrade. window locks? if theyve already smashed through double glazing then its window bars but thats a bit ott unless your in scumsville!

Simple code or remote alarm is all they would need. plenty of wireless systems out there. its a good deterrant but wont stop professionals. You could add a simple panic alarm and a gsm pager unit to text you from a safety point of view considering they are old now.

Gutted to hear about your break in.

I had my banshee and my mates cr250 nicked on the eve of my birthday a few years back out of the garage. We're all belled up now and I've since got a couple of dogs.

The alarm ones alright, but how many do you hear going off and think nothing of it? plus an alarm won't chase you down the street.

Hopefully you get it all sorted out soon

soco have been and it looks like they were ready and waiting

gloves were expected, but these also have plastic bags on their shoes to cover any foot prints

the security bobby is coming to show us the weak points and where to get better security etc and then we'll see about getting an alarm

althgouhg it's got me thinking about why it's not possible to get some sort of remote central lockig on the house when you leave it....?

I read about a spate of breakins where the only stuff they took was gold. Didnt even touch other jewelery.

We've got fuggin "Cash4gold" "Webuyanygold.com" and "Stickyourgoldinanenvelopeandwepromisethepostiewon tnickit.com" to thank for this.

thing was, i couldn't beleive how much mess they made

although in some respects i'm glad they wern't through, my mum hoards all sorts of stuff so after emptying the wardrobes with pillows in them and shoes and old socks and stuff, they gave up and went to the other room

typical woman though, she was nattering away like nothing had happened while we were waiting for the coppers to turn up, right mrs marple she was turning out to be

Its a deterent more than anything, the opertunist scumbag, may be detered by the flashing box, if not, alot don't want to be disturbed by the occupants, so when an alarm goes ape, they normally scarper.

my mate caught someone climbing in a small window under the stairs,he broke the window and pushed the gas metre out of the way,my mate and his wife had just gone to bed and herd the noise, they creeped down the stairs and pulled open the cupboard door to find this bloke half through the window,my mate pulled him into the house by his neck and stamped all over him while his wife slapped him with her slipper,i had to laugh.

you can its just expensive. You end up with electric locks on the doors (with manual override obviously) and sensors on every door/window. that way when you leave, the electric locks will activate. also the clever alarms will tell you when youve got doors/windows open.

It all cost money though and electric locks etc is overkill unless you live in chav central or have serious valuables.

How about making sure all doors and windows have proper locks then putting a label on back of front door by handle saying "check windows and doors". much cheaper!

House insurance is Very fussy in what they pay out Dojj, I suggest looking at the documents and reading all the fineprint.

I myself use to work for C.I.S home insurance, and it's amazing how they get away with some stuff....

thanks for the words of encourangement folks

and a small update

they've taken the spare house keys, the spare key for the sierra and the spare key for the mondeo

the house is fairly simple to get the locks changed on, the sierra ain't going anywhere but again, the locks are a peice of cake to change, seeing as it's only ignition and tailgate

what's concerning me is that the mondeo is a blip key, so i'm thinking will they be walking down the street pressing the button to see which one it opens of what? even though it's got an alarm on it seperatly

so if that needs sorting, can i still claim off the household insurance or will i need to speak to the insurance company about it?

been thinking about cctv for a while now, but if they break in, won't they bee able to siple find a computer and take the stuff out of it? that's my worry

bars on windows is another option but i don;' think that'd work either

security copper came around so i'll see what he's had to say later on, but looks like we'll deffo have to change the front door as it's not got all them multi point locks on it like everyoen wants you to have
