the USA got thier space program and nuclear weapons ballistic missile programs off to a flying start on the back of the work of german scientists working both during and after the war.

The us nuclear weapons were very very crude. the german designs were far more advanced and capable its just lucky they didnt get the resources or time to finish them!

Jet and rocket technology of the 50's and 60's is massively influenced by german work!

thier advances in technology wer due to a highly effective war machine. something hitler only had limited control over.

but as chip says theres a massive difference between the effect of an arms race on rapidly advancing technology and having a credible society and economy fueling the same advances albeit at a slower rate.

yes but the people are thinking out as individuals not as a society. thats the fundamental flaw with our politics. a lot of our current policys are based around individual rights with little consideration for society as a whole. the 'individual' was something pushed by thatcher lots.

Looking at china theyve sacrificed the concept of individual for the concept of society as a whole and its pretty obvious as its a fundamental concept of communism!

But we do need to redress the balance. whats the point of individual rights if society as a whole collapses?? Is it not a good society that was able to give us those individual rights.

I like the military concept of simple leadership:

Team
Task
Individual

you have to balance all 3 to win the battle.

Even a very simple model like that and you can apply it to politics and see the balance is fucked!

Also in the military it is a core value that it is sometimes necessary to sacrifice the needs/lives of individuals to save the many.

Not saying we need to be sacrificing lives in uk society but the concept of needing to serve the bigger picture is still valid.

But in a society where individual is king, society as a whole suffers because the individual rights are sacrascant.

I think immigration how it's progressing is just another fuel point for the ID chip...

If when it's ready they can throw in: only citizens will be chipped, no more immigrants etc. there is a massive sweetner and will get approval. Then they'll step it up to you're only a citizen if chipped, and they have elemental as well as physical control and we're well and truly fucked.

Throw in the fact that most people getting the chip initially will be the homeless or crims, who will probably have no input on the info distributed and so won't carry over ANY warnings to the masses. People really really need to wake up or the future is pretty shite.

 

Agree with that, definately the level of civil liberty we currently enjoy is a short term thing.

The main tools that will be used to get the public to agree to proper tagging will include:
Fear (of the bnp if you are brown, and of the islam4uk if you are white)
Hate (of immigrants)
Hope (that it will increase job prospects)
Stupidity (I think they are already home and dry with most PF users)
