Default painting wheels

rite need to fit tyres to my st wheels so while they are off i want to sort the wheels out as they have a few lil scuff. The question is . . . I want to use black aerosol as ebay has 20can deal in gloss black. . Will this be durable. As its gloss i wont laqure it. Only reason is my compressor shat itself and now dont work and i cant afford to buy a new one atm.

Im pretty sure if you want it to last you'll still need to use laquer over the gloss black

I got some stuff the other year, made for things like roof bars etc.

Was a tough gloss black spray paint. I painted a quad bike tank and handle bars and was one of the best finished out of the can I have used, went a long way as well.

This was the can finish before polishing

think it was simmonz tough cote or similar, Ł5 a can

Not sure, it took a good 7 days to dry though and that was just dry enough to touch/pick it up!!!

Even said on the can it takes 7 days to harden.

Personally I would have the wheels professionally done, I have sprayed alloys with cans but the amount of effort and man hours really made it no more cost effective than getting them done.

here are my civic wheels I did

before

after

2 - 3 days and a good Ł60 in material, they were battered!!

one thing that concerned me was how careful the tyre places is when fitting the tyres, I did mine with the tyres on.

What ever you do, spend the most time prepping, ANY little mark at primer stage will show up tenfold and you will be gutted you didn't flatten it off more.
