Why would it not compete with Rod's top speed? Has way more power... If Andrew Gallacher put NOS in his car, do you think there would be much in it 1/4 mile? He's already well in the 9's from memory.

Because i think that it's not geared for topspeed runs but for dragracing.
i think that i would a close race whit andy's ford focus cosworth.

A close race with andys car?

Andys car isnt short geared, isnt set up with drag suspension and has at least 400 to 500hp less???

Wouldnt it be much easier just to admit it obviously doesnt have the claimed power?

what do people think tuners in other country's do so much better than our tuners?
believe me they dont put real research money into these, they just bolt on bigger and bigger turbos lol
and if that graph is real, its going to be horrible to drive lol boost threshold is a little high

They dont do any better these engine are completely different not better.
They make everything as large as possible I know the cams Fenspeed use they run a pair we run one with our ports kept smaller & exhaust cam mild.
They run a much bigger Turbo that will easily puff the pressure but dont worry about the lag. That graph says 96 ron so they dont need the ignition we run so no head gasket probs.
I may lay that graph over mine then you will see just how big the compromise is.
That car must have at least a 7 speed box & be geared in the 160's if you lengthed the gearing by 35% to compete Topend with mine it would fall off the Power with each gear change. It would given a long enough straight pull to 220 with that Power, but down Brunters the Torque & continuous Power delivery of mine would beat it easily.
Its horses for courses.

i was trying to prove a point! they DONT do anything different! they dont really engineer these engines! they are just built for a number

We were running 9.4's in the 90's with my mate jt's street/drag 105e ,and that

was with a piddly 535 bhp fom mountune on pump gas

I do however believe that methanol is the way to go with a full on drag spec

yb , and not even with a turbo

Random guess as I don't know, but if it don't make power till 6k.. What does he launch it at on the ź mile?

Its built for drag, so why are people putting it down in other areas.

im not putting it down as a drag car its a serious bit of kit im just saying i dont think the people abroad are as good at building very fast road cosworths as us and vid he used to show it was as a road car not a drag car!

Hi I don't know much about that car but I knew I similar one owned by a guy called "Tsakanikas" (here is a 9.7sec run):
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_QET1dbkB0E&feature=related

That car is 1150bhp and I can assure you that it is true over 1000bhp... The redline of that YB was 10800RPM!!! It is the car with the light green cover engine and the turbine located just behind the front bumper... That car was having huge traction problem in 1st and 2nd gears and the first 18meters of the run was coming at 1,6-1,7 seconds but the full 400meters run was coming at 9,7 seconds with a speed of 250km/h. with better traction it would be quite faster...

A dragrace engine is setup for max torque and proper because it's need to 1/4 mile as quicky as possible and they don't give a fuck about low rpm engine power.

Who needs to see them both race? A 1/4 mile is a 1/4 mile. Both do similar times and the escort is set up more to be a drag car but yet has supposedly 400-500hp more? No chance mate. The facts speak for themselves.

It's runs on metanol anything is possible whit that kind of fuel so 400-500 hp is possible on metanol.

This is not what Ollie is asking. He's asking how can it have so much more power and yet be 'close' in a race? If it had the claimed power it wouldn't be close at all. The only real answer is, it can't.

Right now in Greece we have 3 very powerful Cossies!

one is the subject Escort, which runs on methanol but still needs some sorting out...When it is completed it should be quite fast...

there is another one blue escort cosworth, from another shop. in street form (full interior, drag radials, etc) has ran a 9.4 on racegas... He converted to methanol too on a completely different setup... He is much lighter than the 9.4 sec and makes much more power... it should go in the 8s for 2010...

the new setup

The third one is the white 3dr which has been featured in either Fast Ford or Performance Ford... i dont remember... Its a true daily driver, with over 1000 bhp, has ran 9.8 @ 248 km in full trim on street tires, etc... Skyline gearbox, GT42RS turbo, Autronic ecu, etc...
