maybe aero space pre preg and f1 material that is reinforced with a aluminium core would be as strong but would be heavier than the metal skin your replacing

its like when building race cars most modern cars the wings are actually same weight or even lighter than carbon but most panels we construct for true race cars will a kevlar as it wont shatter , 8 out of 10 panels will just need filling if damaged and we do a lot of rally X cars this way including pat and liam dorans cars will gollop's to name couple of them , but making composite doors/boot lids/bonnet is where wieght saving is made
