I get my damaged cars from D Hales, it is online only and you have to be in the trade to have an acount, all sorts of cars get on there, prices are also all over the place though.

eh when did that change?
you are suposed to have a disposal licence to buy cat a and b cars I know of the loophole to get cat b's on the road but I'm not aware of it being advisory???

always been the same...

cod marked cars are the only thing you need disposal licences for,and they can never go back on the road when that marker is issued

working at vosa untill 6 months ago i have completed lots of cat a and b vics...

they go back on the road no probs with a vic.

dvla have nothing to do with the category the cars fall into. its an advisory to them from the insurer, it legally means nothing.

same old same old in 2010,theres more to write offs than meets the eye.

i just sold a 52 plate cat c vectra sri turbo diesel i got off a mate,it never repeat never had a marker on the logbook yet it hpi'd as a cat c,i could tell it had a wing and a nicely done repair on the bonnet so i wasn't worried it had been hit hard and the innerwing and bulkhead/front panel was perfect and original.

so there you go explain that one !!!! cat c in 2007 and nowt on the recently accquired logbook?

i think the marker is removed from the v5 when its vic checked. if the marker is on the v5 dvla wont tax it

it is possible to buy marked cars with markers against them and a new v5 would be issued in that scenario with a marker, indicating its been written off

correct, and once the vic has been completed you will receive the v5 once you send off the v62 to apply for it, then wrote across the bottom of front page is substantially damaged and repaired vic checked on blah blah blah

howver to remove that from the v5 just oput a private plate on the car and it never comes back

in regards tot he above ifact i have seen some cat b's etc go back on the road it is sommonly known there not sposed to but they can do if you try hard enough

untrue im afraid.
not all a and bs have cod markers.

COD meaning certificate of destruction, should only ever be issued at the point the vehicle is being destroyed. so none should have a cod marker untill is is about to be squashed.

Just thought Id bring this post to your attention, perhaps your boss would rather have made the profit out of breaking those cars / not understood the law rather than sell the car to you to make a profit on?
