Its a Cosworth shell that has been built up with Cosworth parts but has RS2000 ID, nothing dodgy about that IMO, seller is being completly honest.
A mate of mine was doing the same thing as a project.
Its never seen a rally stage!

so if i buy a cosworth and then put the i.d of a sierra 1.8lx thats not ringing either, surely if it's a cosworth shell, engine etc it should have the i.d of a cosworth if its a reshell from a cosworth.

ringing, rally re shells and cocking a cozzie needs its own forum matey ![Surprised](https://passionford.com/forum/images/smilies/bigcry.gif)
basically the majority of rally cozzies from new did not have id in the usual place in the floorpan.
if you smashed up a escort cosworth rally shell you got another rally shell and swapped the lot over and go again. no id in the floor so no one can tell and thats how ford sold them, they did have a tag on the slam panel but not a proper floor stamp.
remember a lot of big rally teams would have say 2 spare shells per car and in a bang would use one to get the car prepared for a event.
when them cars got sold sometimes the spare shells would not go with the car so a shell with no id would be sat there and maybe sold to a noggin who used a xr3i id to put the car back into service.
obviously a stolen shell or car can be fooked around with a xr3i or rs2000 id the same, either way its dodgy unless you have recipts to prove. the police could sieze that car if they get told its not what it seems.
i would be much happier if it was on a q plate and said escort cos, atleast you know the dvla have had a butchers lol

Also whats the score with it having a sun roof, thought all rally/motorsport shells didnt have one?

at the beginning the rally boys reshelled their sierras into escort shells and were allowed to keep the sierra reg but dont think you can do it now.
it looks like a ringer to me,should be on a Q if anything.
sometimes if you did it over a period of time say changing say engine then changing logbook at dvla then changing colour then shell ...everytime changing it on logbook and returning to dvla you could change full car eventually...but again you cant do this now to the same extent.......not that i have ever done any of the above

Check the posts above mate, it is a motorsport shell, they dont have a normal ID so the guy has used an RS2000 ID to avoid a Q plate.

If he used a new shell and sufficient parts from the donor RS2000 the car could be legitimate but, with all the Cosworth parts available why not just reshell the Cosworth?
Maybe he got a cheap Q Plate Cosworth and didn't want the Q Plate so settled for RS2000 ID but then, as a Cosworth shares little or no mechanical parts with an RS2000, he would have had to build the car using the donor RS2000 parts (assuming they actually fit?) to get the 8 points required, get it registered with a new DVLA VIN number and a new age-related number plate, then replace all the RS2000 parts with the Cosworth ones.
