Default FAO SECS re ECU

As you brought this up on this board i will ask you on this board in front of everyone so people can see wether you have learnt anything re the Gus incident.

You said i was not able to sell my ECU that is legally mine, because it needed an unlock code (which i dont personally think it has,its just you being childish) .

Well i am going to keep the ECU (retrieved from bin) and keep car in current tune on S8 for the time being so as my legal right as its MY ECU i demand the unlock code as i do not want the car to stop whilst i am out driving it...and obviously trying to get hold of you is almost impossible.

I would also like to here peoples views on wether i should be given the ECU unlock code on a product i paid for...although at a knock down price due to it being second hand/repaired/scratched case...oh and not ever being told THIS particular ecu required a code at any time since arrival of it.(The original new ecu first sent was said to have a 100hr life)....but thats neither here nor there...am i being stupid to expect an unlock code on something that is now my property?

Please strictly no SECS worshippers saying deal with it in private as its blantently obvious its easier to contact the dead.

I've not followed this SECS thing particularly closely.

However, is the code not that code for the MAP?? If so, I would say that Simon has every right to do that, however, surely he should offer to wipe the ECU? The last thing a mapper wants is to spend hours writing a MAP for a car and finding that it has been copied.

I would say it would only need a time limited code if it was out on time limited test.

If you've bought and paid in full for the unit, no unit should have a purposely limited lifespan, unless you purchased it in full knowledge of that fact.

Sorry to the rest of PF for this next comment.
Simon....you gave me the ecu for £270 new price £500.....this ecu is second hand and battered with a repair from a fire..so the price reflects the condition...There is no time limit on it.....BUT now you have been spiteful i have literally just binned the ECU as you are a very nasty human being and very childlike who hopefully one day will finnally show his face to an unsatisfied customer who will no doubt knock you spark out....I am glad i no longer have any of your products on my premises,so here endith our links Damn i feel good.

Phil,

I have said and will repeat again....

The ecu you bought was second hand and carrys a FULL waranty.
For as long as YOU own the ecu I will continue to give you FULL tech support.

The ecu DOES have a timeout facility as it was given to you on a try before you buy basis.
This time limit is based on hours that the engine has run and does
not require battery backup to remember this so will not
forget the total hours run.

Yes, as the ecu is FULLY your property, If the ecu requests an unlock code
and you still have it in your posession, I will give you the code.

When you had the ecu, it did give me good publicity and the reduced
price reflects this.

However, since then, you have had a pop at me and have implied the
ecu is not reliable enough for you purely to add to the hate campaign
off me rather than the fact the ecu has performed without fault for you.

You said you were going to sell the ecu and you probally could have sold
it and made a nice profit and it is this situation I am protecting myself
from being exploited. I mentioned the unlock code to you so if you
did sell the ecu to an unsuspecting person that you had the facts to
pass on to that person.
In this way, I could recoup my loss from this scenario.

It would be good if you just could make your mind up and stick to it.

I have publically stood up for your DIY adventures as it does benefit me
too if you use the ecu.

personnally, if i was simon i would tell you to shove the ecu where the sun don't shine, especially after the way after he has sold you cheap ecu you turn on him like a dog

probably better if you offer to buy one for the full retail price without the code and maybe just maybe he might sort you one out that is if he hasn't topped himself from all the bullying and personnal insults that have been thrown his way

bloody turncoats hey....who'd ave em!

Matt please stay off a serious thread of mine..i know its not often seen, but this really is important.

I cant see how anyone thinks that £270 for a scratched send hand fire damaged repaired ECU which alledgedlly has a time limit is a bargain I cannot run the car on S8 now, unless its only to my local shop which is half a mile away, as i dont know when it will stop

How many hours is it set to run for Simon?

Phil, I'm surprised he's still dealing with you after the way you turned on him! Just chill out mate. I do hear what you're saying about getting stranded however. It's a hard one to call.

But please don't everyone start ganging up on the poor bloke again. Not like everyone who's had a go has never fooked up is it?

I don't think this is about prams.

More like what if the car conks out when he's far from home and he's without his laptop he has to go through all the agravation of towing the car home or leaving it there and hoping it's still there when he gets back

IMO thats not right if simon decided to sell it to him at that price thats his perogative whatever he decides to do with it so be it.

Cheers

Daniel

Phil,

I have given you complete support for the ecu without fail since you have had it.

I can assure you, the ECU time limit will NOT leave you stranded.

When the time limit has expired, a progressive softcut rev limit will be in effect
that will over a period of time reduce to a limit of 3200 rpm permanently
and also a boost limit of 5 psi will be in effect.
This will still allow you to start and drive the car.

I cannot give you the lock code now as it can only be enterered if the PC is
connected and the ecu has decided it requires it to be entered.

There is a way to disable the facility completely but I will pick the time this happens
in the future depending on your future plans and comments.

You have the right to complain about me IF and when I do let you down - Not before.

The ecu product is important to me proffesionally and personally and will
standby all my above statements.

ADUS....dont you think i wish i had?

Being a tight arse never pays...

As for saying i have turned on Simon is a joke...i was merely agreeing that Gus was treated dreadfully... Just cause i did once get adequate service that wont make me a loyal servant and turn a blind eye to other people woes.

Anyone who thinks simon is a good business person needs medically examining for any signs of brain cells.

Well if I bought something off someone, had no problems with it then got on the bitch train when it went past tooting its horn....you can't expect a warm welcome for tech support can you?
I think its pretty honourable of Simon to be so helpful towards him...as Jay (BlueSmoke) said.

I can really see why the sensible tuners dont use bulletin boards.

If you buy a Weber Alpha ECU you can only have it set up by an Alpha Dealer, and you cant get in to the map and meddle with it.

So I guess Simon is within his rights to withhold access to the ECU, he is not however within his rights to render it unuseable after a period of time.

UNLESS

You didnt buy the ECU, you only bought a licence to use it.

Simon.

My advice to you would be give Phil his money back straight away, take the ECU back.... end of.

Infact.. I'd be tempted to get in my car now and go straight down to his house, give him his money back, a bottle of wine and an apology for the inconvenience.

The when you get back from Phils house, log back into PF and delete your account.

The have a nice meal relax in front of the TV and give some serious thoughts to how you do business with people in the future.

I remember just how much aggro it was to get my repaired SECS monitor back from you.

You are obviously a talented chap in what you do.. and a very nice bloke who just wants to help people.... but mate you are a SHIT business man.

Get a professional in to run the business side of your organisation leaving you free to develop new products etc, obviously the things you enjoy and where your skills are.

Why do I feel qualified to give you this advice ??

Because I run 2 businesses thats why ! and I dont get people on bulletin boards bitchin about my stuff.

I know any publicity is meant to be good publicity... but man you are just getting too many slating on this board.

Im staying out of this after this reply as ive been officially accused of running a hate campaign to destroy SECS business...

All i will say is if the ecu is paid for and full functionality was agreed upon for the price paid then it needs unlocking to become 100% fully functional. What if Phils at brunters doing a top speed event with a mag or on an expensive bloody dyno session... whos footing the bill foir time lost due to unexpected rev limiter?

SECS,
There is a way to disable the facility completely but I will pick the time this happens
in the future depending on your future plans and comments.
Seems youve bought a shareware ECU and it will only be unlocked if you speak nicely. Phil, your credit rating with Simon is now so bad you cant even pay with cash (Blatently robbed from only fools and horses)

Enough from me as maybe theres some hidden story yet to hit the topic....

Whats to misunderstand "sort my ECU out or said product gets inserted into ones bottom because i am sick to the back teeth of getting ripped off by people on bulletin boards"

Giving me a good deal dont mean i become a soldier of the arse as how can you justify how he treats his customers ...although a little birdie tells me Simon has been selling NEW ecu's for £300
