Well in the end of the day i am still here. My boss says it can happen. This is one of the risks of driving in south Germany in the winter. Plus it just how you act. I am fucking scared for driving in the snow now. I cant remember anything. Just that i saw i was going to fast for that road at the time and touched my brake very light. Everything after that is just gone. At the end I remembered holding my steering wheel and looked in my mirror and seeing my trailer at the wrong place. Couldnt open my door cos the cabin is wrecked. After the recovery truck towed my truck in the right way i had to drive to his company 15km further. But at every corner i just didnt want to press the brake or steer. Its fucking scary really. Don't want to do again thats for sure

i know it sounds stupid but i really thought i was going to die at that point

i was comein out of a landfill site this mornin with a oversize dozer on, about 20tonne and 14ft wide. to get into the site i was dragged up by a 4wd tractor, and to say i was a little nervous comein out! was a steep downhill with a right bend, all snowed on with no grit.

1st gear very slight exhaust brake and tag axle lifted to keep weight on drive. made it but is very hit and miss just waitin for trailer to try gettin past!

glad your ok tho thats all that matters in the end.

They arnt allowed anymore. But as this scania had a Retarder which you can set on auto or just switch it off i was stupid and forgot to switch it off. So when i touched the brake the retarder came on to. Well and there you see. But a brake just make things worse. Believe me its better to let it slow. When you brake the trailer is going to go its own way.

i understand what your saying,my biggest fear is killing someone, fuck all you can do when they start sliding, just try not go for the brakes like, and at least you'll remember bout the retarder next time, powerful things on them scanias, when i had one i always left it on the stick cos i locked a scania up in the wet with one once, shit mesen so never had it on auto again.

least ypur gaffer was sound, its just metal at the end of the day.
