Default Pulsar GTiR, whats std boost, whats max on std pistons?

My mate has bought a pulsar GTiR on a Hplate, totally standard all round and it currrently runs .5bar /7psi. He has heard that standard boost is actually .7bar is this right and any info on Dastek unichip? as he has been offered one along with a front mount, exhaust and filter. Are these any good, are they swappable between cars or should they be set up and tweaked on each vehicle or are they plug and play?
It is a piggyback system is that right, does he need the loom too or ??

Thanks guys

Default hi

take the front mount filter and exhaust leave the dastek chip and get a walbro fuel pump and up the boost to 1 bar that will see 300 bhp mate

1 bar boost loop, walbro, leave it alone after that or it'll more than likely break. Standard pistons are 'ok' but not what you would call strong, dont expect over 350 out of them.

1 bar boost loop:

oh and it'll be piggyback if its a unichip. if its wired into the std ecu, then its "piggyback" ie interpreting some signals and doing its own thing. if not, then it is whats known as an ecu!

In reality it'd have to be a good engine and turbo to make 300bhp, more likely around 280bhp.

My mate had been running his GTiR at 1 bar for a while with the standard turbo, when it started smoking he changed it for a gt3071, then remapped it, it melted a piston on the rollers running 1.4 bar, so he rebuilt it and got the mapping finished off and ran 387bhp @ 1.4 bar. Went quite well like that

Very true, a 1 bar GTiR will make around 280bhp, it's a lot more lively than a standard one

.8 is std? brilliant thankyou and its safe to do 1bar, that should be plenty for a run around, last thing you need is an un reliable or self destructing motor. Thanks all.

Yeah but even at 1bar you need to be weary of hard launches and clutch slipping if standard clutch, they have a bad rep for chocolate 'boxes but as with most cars of this age, unless you treat them right then you may encounter problems.

My old one was a great car, proven 300bhp and standard box, used to drive it hard and it never let me down once, admittedly I wasn't launching it every day, but it had some stick.

Uprate the clutch @ 14psi, its needed. Mine had a paddle in it, but it got changed for an Organic clutch and was fine. Mine made 274bhp 236lbft @ 14psi with filter, exhaust, FMIC.

Gearbox casings are the weak link, They spilt when launching... I done two and that was with loading the box up, not just dumping the clutch. Also had a box go, but never found the problem, think it was a reverse spring.
