Don't I know it!

A useless PRICK hit my Focus last night in a E46 Beemer, he tried to do a runner but fucked up his back end nicely only had power to one wheel and just slid against the kerb, there was a shitload of witnesses at least (only thing that kept my scaffolding pole in the boot) loads of people ran out there houses.

He swung round a bend in front of me and lost his back end, I tried to swerve but just slid into his NSR. Set my air bags off, fucked the hub, rack, shaft, wing, inner wing, headlight, front bumper....It's a 57 plate LX and most probably a write off now. JUST what I need with all the Xmas trips coming up, courtesy car looking hard to get hold of...

Rant over ffs

In 10-20 years this car would be fixed all day long.

One day there will be cossies in the hundreds. I hope to still be an owner then. We'll be fighting for scraps.

The Merkur scene is getting that way. There are maybe %10 of them left. And Merkurs were made in far greater numbers than all Cossies combined.

Just buy any sapphy with a decent rear end and make a good one, me mate makes a living doing these, all VIC checked all aa/rac inspected as well as 12 months mot, but yes as said would be cheapest to reshell.
I take mine(2wd) out in all weathers inc ice, did 160 miles today from mine to my bros and back, yes takes a lot of concentration can't relax for a second buy can be done.
Sorry of course to see this happen to anyone, esp so at this expensive time of year.

I'm Canadian. If you can't drive in snow you might freeze to death.

I drive in the snow. Would I drive an RS500 or an RS200 in the snow? No. Someone might hit me. My Saff? Merk? Sure. Replaceable. Fixable.

As Tab said, this is fixable and in 2009 the path of least resistance is reshell.

Back in around 1990 that would either have new new panels chucked at it and go again or cut off and a rear end welded on just below the rear seat straight across and across the rear c pillars, seen it done too.

my mate is restoring his dads mk1 cortina and he thinks nothing of carefull removing rear qtrs and wings and other panels off a doner car to rescue his thats been in the family nearly 30 years.
i think its down to how good the car is and how attatched you are to it.
the main thing is matey is ok.

If that came into us, i would get that on a contract repair, and it wouldn't get written off, yeh most insurance companies write everything off these days, but people forget the days are over where an insurance co can tell you where to take your car (i.e approved repairer) you are well in your rights to take it wherever you want, also if you dont mind it being written off, only agree if you get to buy the salvage back which is normally at 10% of the payout.

Then you can either have it repaired and pocket some cash, or break it or sell for someone else to repair.
